So I completed the installation of a 3/8" stainless steel tubing h.p. line from the propane tank to the gas grill location. I managed to get the tubing from point A to point B with no couplings or unions. By the time I got it all bent and in place it was kind of a Houdini act! Haven't fired up the grill off it yet but I am quite confident that it will work fine. If I ever get to the point with photo bucket that it's not maddening, I may post some pics.

Back when we owned our KZ Spree I split one the tank feeds and ran a hose back to the curbside area of the trailer where I spit it a second time with a Marshall T, using one leg to feed a stand alone 2-burner Coleman camp stove and the other leg to feed my Weber Q grill with an additional 25' length hose. This however was temporary as I'd set it up each time, as I remember a warning that came with the tank T warning it was not to be installed permanently and just left on the tank with the hose connected to it, running back along the underside of the trailer. I thought it might have been because the hose was rubber, not metal pipe, but these days many newer trailers including mine now do use rubber hose to run low pressure from the regulator output back to a splitter located on the underside of the trailer where multiple feeds are then run out to the various locations in the trailer ... so clearly metal pipe is no longer required by code for this task. However, this is a low pressure feed running through that hose, not high pressure. Unless someone can point to documentation that proves otherwise I'm thinking that running a high pressure tank feed along the underside of the trailer as the OP has done does not meet code and would be ill advised.

OK, I'll give you the win that it's not a quick connect. To me it's a quick connect cause I don't need a wrench to attach and detach. The Stay Flow was intended to stay on the trailer permanently. The hose (and my stainless line) was not intended to stay on the trailer when not in use, which somewhat pre-supposes when the trailer is in transit too.

So contrary to your claim this is not a "quick disconnect gas fitting" but rather a 1"-20 threaded high pressure fitting, exactly the same used on 16.4 oz propane canisters and the Q series of Weber grills. Regardless that your trailer was supplied with a Stay Flow Adapter it's not intended by the manufacturer to be permanently installed and left in place while the trailer is in transit - mine in fact was labeled with a warning to this effect. Permanently installing a high pressure line as you've done will "work" but it certainly doesn't meet code. :R

Mine also had the high pressure hose in the trailer. I took out the fitting that the hose would hook into and extended it to the the location where the gas grill is and put the connect fitting there.

This one came with brass tee upstream of the regulator that had a the same connection type that small propane cylinder has. It also came with hose that has the invert(female)of that connection on one end and the same male connection on the other end that you would connect to the appliance, in this case a Q-1000 Weber gas grill. I've seen it at Camping World last time I was there. I just looked on the web site and can't find it by description likely cause I don't really know what it's called. Coleman makes an 8' long hose just like the one that came with my trailer. Soon as I find it I will post the part # and manufacturer.

So here is my thought on all this. The trailer came with a factory installed quick connect and hose to run tank pressure to an appliance that uses a small high pressure bottle of gas. That is where I tied in the start of my stainless. The length of my 2000psi rated stainless tubing(not corrugated)is the same length as the hose it came with. I installed a 2000psi rated stainless ball valve at the tank tap and it is always off while not in use or traveling. There is a 650psi rated hose downstream of the ball valve tying it into the bulkhead where the stainless tubing starts. This will prevent vibration issues at the tie-in point. Very likely does not meet trailer manufacturing codes.............but I will live with that. The quick connect that was on at the tank is now at the end of the stainless tubing where a bulk-head ties onto a bracket. I thought this dude out pretty well prior to installing it. I have 31 years in Gas Construction and I'm very familiar with high pressure tubing installation and use. As stated not likely up to trailer code, but it should work fine for me.

Stainless Steel & SwagLok fittings are not AGA (American Gas Association) approved. If you use these materials you do so at your own risk. It's never a problem, until there's a problem... Do you really want to take that risk just to be able say "I did it my way"?

First question, why stainless VS black iron or soft copper? Second, are you sure it's high pressure? Did you tap before or after regulator?

He is likely referring to corrugated stainless tubing used in homes, outdoor and even underground.

Interestingly enough, someone on the GD forum popped in today and claimed they did the same thing on their TT. Not a smart move IMO.
