DW has never liked the oven in our '96 adventurer so it's been used primarily as chip storage. She wants it removed and build in a better cabinet for storage. The plan is to take out the oven and counter top, build a new cabinet to replace the oven and build a new counter top over everything. For the stove top she wants to use a PIC (personal induction cooker). The PIC will be stowed away and brought out when needed. Has anyone done this and is there any surprises I need to watch out for? Any idea how difficult it will be to cap off the gas line?Thanks in advance.

I've got to disagree with OldB. If you do a good job and make it look professional I'm not sure it would effect resale. I HATE the pos range in my Springdale. The oven is useless. I just bought a PIC and have been playing with it. I am considering something like you want to do with these changes: pull crappy M/W out and replace with decent convection combo. Yank stove out and build recessed box to hold 2 or more PICs with cabinet underneight. Admittedly I keep my TT in parks that have good and plenty power.

In my case I doubt that resell is much of a consideration. This is a '96 with over 105K so I think the resell window on it is closing.

My rig came with a drop in stove top, but no propane oven, just a cabinet. I removed the doors and installed a Fisher-Paykel dishwasher (called a dishdrawer) and the wife loves it. It is the same size as an oven would have been and looks like it was installed when the rig was new.Unless your DW loves doing dishes, she'll appreciate the dishwasher. It uses less water than doing them by hand.

I'd like to get rid of the oven and keep the gas cooktop. We already have a NuWave Pro 8-in-1 Digital Oven which is great for cookies, biscuits, chicken, beef, anything up to a 16 lb turkey! I'd like to get a PIC but you need special cookware for that. Still thinking about it though.

Just FYI. check what kind of wiring is running to the microwave if it is in a slide. Ours has household wiring run through the regular walls but the slides have a flexible wiring almost like an extension cord. I tried to put in a convection combo and it would not hold the amperage. Just a thought. If MW is in a stationary wall you should be fine.

If you use it at full power (1800W) it will take 15 amps. Mine defaults to 1200W which would be 10 amps. it can also be run at 600W which is 5 amps. At less than 600W power it cycles on and off, so 600W / 5 amps is the minimum.

Actually, the fitting you will be removing is a 3/8" flare. The plug you will use will be the male 3/8" flare and sealant is never used on flare fittings since the sealing takes place on the beveled flare and not the threads.

Does anyone know about or use these PIC Burners? I was just getting ready to rip everything out and noticed the one she wants uses 120 volts, 15 amps of electricity? I'm wondering if they really do use that much amperage? Our MH house portion is a 30 amp unit. This could send us back to the drawing board :E

If you still like to bake or broil you might want to consider a convection oven as well. They are not cheap but they bake better than most any of the RV ovens. They just don't have the capacity (reduced chip storage space!).
We have no oven but a gas cook top and the convection oven. The wife would like an induction cooktop as it would cut down on the heat generated while cooking on the stove top. I think if the induction is going to be your only cooking surface you might need 2. Otherwise, it sounds like a reasonable plan.
