I've had really good luck with a UK product that you can often find here in the states. It's a line of plastic storage boxes that are marketed under the very appropriate name of "Really Useful Box". They're not necessarily cheap, although you can often find them on sale at very reasonable prices, but they are extremely well-designed - sturdy, lightweight, and squared off such that you can easily nest multiple smaller containers within larger ones without the usual wasted space resulting from the sloped-sided containers.
You can often find a fairly decent variety of these boxes at office supply stores such as Staples and sometimes in home improvement chains like Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH). Home Depot used to carry them, but discontinued the brand several months ago. You might check there anywhere as I have recently found them at clearance prices.
For those sizes you can't source locally, you can also order directly from the company online at:
Really Useful Boxes, however this is generally the most expensive option
