Far as I can tell...
Majority of cooling "power" is applied to the Freezer
Fridge is cooled by the Fins which are heat sinked to to the Cooling Plate in the Freezer
But the Thermistor is mounted on a Fin so it looks at Fridge Temp
Say your Freezer isn't as cold as you'd like it to be. Maybe you had it open to add items or find something. But the Fridge was cool and you didn't open or add to it. The cooling unit won't start running right away because it has no way to know the freezer warmed up. Open the Fridge, and the Thermistor will tell the Cooling Unit to get going again.
We got a wireless fridge thermometer set. Two Sensors for inside and and a Readout with magnets. Attaches to our range hood. We like it.
