Sink Replacement

Has any one replaced their plastic kitchen sink with a steel one? I have the one with a sink and a smaller one just to the right and it is basically useless. The wife would like to have one larger one. Idea's?

    Looks nice.

But you should consider changing the sink from one you have which does not have the "apron" for the faucets to one that does have an apron. The difference is night and day!

The apron type will stop the water from the faucet from pooling on the counter top and eventually rotting out the counter top.

With the apron types the faucet mounts to the sink and the sink apron will contain any water "spillage" from the faucet.

The one I am talking about looks like THIS

By the way, the one in the link is actually designed for mobile homes which have a shallow depth of counter top like a RV. It is only 19" front to back including the apron. A normal home sink is about 22" front to back and would be a tight fit in most RV counter tops.

  • Its not difficult to do. Just make sure you have enough space, both above and below the counter. Some RVs have faucet(s) that mount on the counter, not on the sink as most household sinks are designed to do. Make sure the sink you get will cover the faucet holes if this is the case. You will also probably have to rebuild the drain. Your local hardware store will have the necessary plumbing supplies.
  • I replaced the cheap plastic sink in my coach with the following:

I purchased it at IKEA for about $50. They have good selection of smaller sinks. I had to enlarge the opening slightly.
  • It all depends on how much room you have to install one. If you have space under the counter, then it is a simple matter of finding a sink, cutting out and installing it.
