Don't understand this....that the Ram uses the Husky 5th wheel hitch...The Ram can use almost any kind or model of hitch.... IF you have the GN/5er prep package, you can get the picture frame adapter and put your existing hitch on it, (most will work, there are a few that won't). IF you DON'T have the GN/5er prep package, then again, you can get just about whatever you want and whomever installs the hitch will have to put the conventional rails in, unless one goes to a GN, or uses a 5er hitch like the Andersen Ultimate 5er hitch, (uses a center drop in ball).
So don't understand exactly what you're getting. This hitch, IF you have the 5er/GN package, HAS to have the picture frame adapter to mount the hitch with...
Again, there are a couple manufacturers, who are in the process of manufacturing their conventional 5th wheel hitch with rails built onto it that WILL fit in the Ram GN/5er hitch prep package....Don't know if on market yet, but thought Curt was one of them and thought Reese was the other. - Hotel_CaliforniExplorer

jmac2009...are you saying that the Husky hitch will drop right into the 4 fifth wheel prep holes without the picture frame adapter? - NC_HaulerExplorer

I have the factory 5th wheel prep package in my 2014 3500. Camping World got me the picture frame adaptor for the Reese 21k hutch they put in for me. Noribkems at all. 5er rides level with good clearance when hitched up. Hitch is easily removed when I need my bed back. Very pleased with this system.
Where did Camping world get the picture frame adapter? If I may be so bold to ask, what did it cost? I know that Reese sells theirs for a little over $300 and MOPAR is more expensive.
Glad it worked out for you...I really wanted to use the new frame and the set up with how everything locked down, and like you said, I remove my 5er hitch, then the picture frame adapter and bed is clean.
I have no idea where they got the picture frame adaptor nor how much it cost. They added $800.00 to the cost of my 5er for the hitch. There is a whole story about the cost/price of this hitch. But suffice it to say that the dealership was just happy to see me drive off the lot never to bother them again after they installed the hitch. BTW it was CW of Chattanooga.
Once you get the adapter, it's really a piece of cake to put into the bed of the truck. One may have to "tweek" on their hitch lock down points a little, or adjust the picture frame adapter, but all in all, it's not hard to put in or take out of the turck. It's much easier to get now than it was 6 to 10 months ago..it was ridiculous, Ram/Mopar dropped the ball big time with offering the 5er/GN prep package and when trucks came out, no one could get the picture frame adapter so that they could utilize the prep package. I've seen MOPAR price on picture frame adapter and depending on availability, prices are from $450 to at one time, $575:R..Reese cost is $313 with free shipment I think. - BombfixerExplorer

Also the dealers that I visited had not included the prep in the trucks they floored! And knew very little about the setup.

DUMB. Doesn't it seem like they could have struck a deal with one of the major hitch manufacturers like Ford did and pre-drill the holes to fit a specific hitch package?
The picture frame adapter allows one to use a variety of different hitches..The picture frame adapter mounts into the bed of the truck and my 20K Reese Signature hitch locked into it. There are quite a few different hitches one can use on the adapter.
But it was dumb on Ram's part to NOT have the picture frame adapter available when the trucks came out....I got my truck in May and no adapter until July....Chrysler made it right for me though by giving me a Chrysler Max Car care extended warranty of 7 yrs, 100,000 miles, zero deductible and I paid about 1/2 of what MOPAR is charging for the adapter, so what Chrysler did for me for the inconvenience, to me, made up for their dropping the ball on this 5er/GN prep package.
I have a reese elite hitch...just by looking at it, doesn't it hook up the same way as it has the cam locks also? I didn't do any measuring but the dodge setup looks like it is the same as my elite setup.
I don't know if we're talking about the same thing:h..I have the GN/5er prep on my truck, that means there are 5 cam lock holes in the bed of my truck, 4 outside one's and 1 center hole, all of these points have been built into the frame of the truck...Most who use a GN hitch only need to get a "drop in ball" and put it in the center hole and they're done. They don't need the picture frame adapter, which locks into the 4 other holes in the truck, and it'll only lock down one way....you have two smaller cam locks toward the back of the cab, and tow larger ones toward the tailgate...so, again, you can only mount it one way, it weighs 75# (isn't light), and locks down into 4 outside holes. I have the Reese 20K Signature hitch and it fit onto the picture frame adapter....so I'm using a 5er hitch that I already had.
My hitch WOULDN'T fit into the four outside holes,( not wide enough) You HAD to get the picture frame adapter to mount your 5er hitch onto it. I wanted to utilize the 5er/GN prep package, thus the reason I went with it.
Again, one could also use the center hole, buy a drop in ball and purchase an Andersen Ultimate 5th wheel hitch and it attaches to the drop in ball...pretty slick set up...if I would have had to wait any longer for the picture frame adapter, that was the route I was going to go.. - BombfixerExplorerI have the factory 5th wheel prep package in my 2014 3500. I actually have the gooseneck hitch that cam-locks into the same frame the 5ver hitch locks into. 5 min switch over. Great setup in my opinion!
Never seen that...you have a GN hitch that locks into the picture frame adapter, (that means it would cam lock into 4 holes instead of the one in the center:h
the 5er/GN prep package leaves 5 holes in one's truck bed. it's given the name "picture frame adapter), because it's rectangle shaped and it locks into the 4 outside cam locks . Most who have GN hitches use the center hole in the truck bed, (built into frame) and don't even need the picture frame adapter...never seen a GN hitch that had 4 connections points to fit into four separate cam locks in the bed of the Ram truck - jmac2009ExplorerAlong with getting my new Forest River Silverback
