I emailed Andersen about using this pinbox with their hitch and below is the response I received:"With our setup we have not noticed a better towing experience with a cushioned pin box over the static pin box. If you are going to use the MorRyde system we recommend that you use the block out kit they sell: http://www.morryde.com/products/72-gooseneck-adaptor-kit?return=%2Fproduct-category%2F5-rubber-pin-box"I'm looking at this GN adapter kit and am trying to figure out exactly what it does, or why it would be needed. Does this essentially turn the MorRyde into a static pinbox and remove any of the cushioning effect? If that is the case why would I go spend the money on this pinbox and effectively turn it into what I already have?Am I missing something here?

Sounds like Andersen have had some problems. Sounds like a little double-talk to me. You don't want to get rid of the MorRyde fore aft absorption.Maybe I am missing something here.

I once asked them about the trailaire. Their response was that they tested it and found no benefit to adding the trailaire pinbox to the setup. I then followed up and asked about the tri-glide and their response was that they had not tested that version. I didn't purchase either and went with their recommendation.I think they are saying there is no benefit to the MorRyde if you are using the Andersen so they recommend a block out kit to disable the MorRyde so that the Andersen can do its thing (what that thing actually is will lead to a really long debate here on the forum).I like my Andersen 5th wheel ultimate companion.

So then Andersen is saying that their hitch will absorb up and down shock like an Air King Pin and fore and aft shock like the Mor/ryde.So my question is, with all the movement there must be in that hitch to do all that, how long before it fails, since it appears to be mounted pretty ridged.

The Andersen ball/coupler attach is very rigid/secure and no it does nothing to absorb movement which is why I am a little perplexed by their somewhat lame response... I would be willing to bet a paycheck the MorRyde would make a noticeable improvement on my setup.Someone out there has to be running this pinbox with Andersen and can give us "real world" results. I can't see why there would be any compatibility issue running this pinbox with the Andersen. The angle of the coupler never changes vs a static pinbox. The only difference the hitch would see is less extreme forces exerted on it by the trailer. How could that be a bad thing?

I run the Andersen with a 5th Airborne pin box and find it works quite well. I have installed the block so the ball is behind the kingpin to avoid disabling the swivel of the pin box. Air pressure in the air bag is the same as when I used this pinbox with a B&W Companion.

My FIL's 5er has a Mor ride pin box and we put an Anderson in his truck. Said it towed better than he could believe. The only issue we are having is a bit of clearance trouble that I will get worked out when I get my hands back on it. We were in a huge hurry to get them on the road and I should have adjusted the pin box a tick lower but didn't.

Just ignore MR. Cummins12V98, he has NO useful information on this subject and continues to insert his prejudices over something he has never even had his hands on.

Did your FIL leave the MorRyde stock or did he install the blocks?

Left it all stock. The Mor-Ride is just going to absorb some of the front to back Chucking motion that is pretty normal with a ball type coupler.
