I use a 4X4 with the ends tapered. Just back onto or pull forward, depending on what tire you are changing (front or rear). Works great and if you carry a battery powered impact winch, you can change a tire and be on the road in ten minutes. It's a great safety issue as there is nothing more frightening than trying to jack up a trailer on the side of an interstate with vehicles blasting past you in such close proximity. As for the weight issue, it a NON -ISSUE, as you are not driving down the road hitting bumps and you only have it up for about ten minutes.
