CRACKS ON INSIDE OF FRONT DOOR

2010 Carriage Cameo 35SB3. About 2 years ago, we noticed one horizontal crack on the inside of the front door. It’s that hard white plastic sheet about 1/16” thick that fits inside the door frame. There is nothing wrong with the door; it opens and closes fine, fits in the door frame fine and the rest of the door looks perfect. A little while later, another crack showed up. Long story short, there are now 7 horizontal cracks. Dealer says there’s no fix; just have to get a whole new door. And that’s probably true as there doesn’t seem to be any way take that piece out of the frame. Any idea why is this happening? Has anyone had this problem? Thanks
  • To KenBurke, please see my original post; door fits fine and I don’t think we have frame issues. I’m with you, MeAgain, RAS43 or maybe a simple cover up from stickdog. On those panels suggested by MeAgain, I guess you’d have to just cut and affix on top of the bad surface because as you see, you can’t remove or slip it under the edges of the frame. Could be done with this very thin sheet so it doesn’t interfere with the screen door and the fit of the door when closed. Gkainz, do you have cracks as well as bowing? I'm just thinking, maybe that inside cracked sheet of plastic was just a little too big for the frame from the get-go and over time the stress cracked it. Thanks again everyone!
  • I've got the same issue on my 2010 Keystone Laredo. If you put a straight edge along the door edge, mine shows a bow out in the door at the latch area. One guess is really strong wind bowed the door while I held the handle/door area (I've camped/hunted in WY and the wind blows a little out there).

So far I just live with it, but it does irritate me when I look at it.

But the OP has said that the door fits and works fine. I'd go with Me Agains idea. I believe it is just a bad panel.
  • This may be an indication of a major problem. Friends of ours noticed that the front door was not fitting like it should. Turns out that the trailer's frame was failing. The front cap had to be removed and the frame rebuilt.

  • If the door fits good I would not replace it. I would try covering the inside with wallpaper or some thing to cover it.
  • Just looks like stress cracks from inferior materials combined with vibration from the road and usage.
