Dinette lights need changing

We have a 2017 Jayco HT with some lighting settings that we don't like. The first is two low- hanging dinette lights that keep attacking my husband's head. Shorter replacement lights through Camping World or our dealer are really pricey. Any suggestions about replacing them more cheaply? Secondly, our dinette area light switch is touch-activated for brightening and dimming. Buy husband hates it and wants a regular off/on switch. How do we change it?
  • Amazon is a great resource as well as googling some different rv parts dealers. You should be able to change out the switch and again they should be available at any of those sources.
  • Are they 12 volt or 110? If 110 go to any big box store and find what you need.
  • I would be very surprised if they are not 12 volt.

There was not enough light over our truck camper dinette so I bought one of these and just attached it next to the identical existing one.

You could just put one of these where the hanging light was.

We just bought a barely used '16 Cougar 25RKS that has lights that sound similar to the one that are a menace to your husband's head. Those will be switched out pretty quickly.
  • I bought a flat pancake scare light that is usually used outside for about 12 bucks. It was just the right size to fit the bronze frame of the dinette light; just removed the glass assembly portion and screwed the pancake light onto the frame and tied wiring into the existing switch.

No more dents in my head now.
