- Cummins12V98Explorer IIIBuy a Trailer Aid Plus they work great on the road or in your driveway. I have used mine many times to work on the suspension and brakes.

Putting a jack under the axle at the U bolts and jacking it up 2" is no different than driving over a 2" bump somewhere on the road. Go measure some of the drive entrances to parking lots and more than likely some are more than 2".
And you are quite happy about putting a jack under the the round surface of a U bolt? I don't think so. - VeebyesExplorer II

- motorcycle_jackExplorer IIWhen I jack up my MS, I use the hydraulic lifts to raise the side I need up high enough then put jack stands under the frame and lower unto them. The lifts are rated at 17K each and are much easier to use than a bottle jack. I've change all four tires three times this way due to bad tire stems. Finally found Sure Valves and that cured the problem. In the last year and a half haven't jacked it up once!
- wandering1ExplorerYou can damage the axle or shackles. I have and the manufacturer will not fix on the warranty. You should contact the manufacturer and ask questions about your trailer if you want the facts.
- VeebyesExplorer IIDepending on the work to be done jack just aft or fwd of the spring hanger. If you want to get one wheel off the ground, say for bearing work, jack under the spring stack next to the axle.
Avoid using wood between bottle jack & frame. The weight will most likely split the wood. Not safe at all. Distribute the weight with a thick steel plate between jack & wood. - Old-BiscuitExplorer III

It's a CYA to prevent unaware individuals from jacking on an unsupported part of the axle. If they didn't say that, you just know someone would try to jack up their 5er by putting a jack in the middle of the axle. And then complain because "Nobody said I couldn't jack there."
I jack my toyhauler from under the U-bolts for the axle mount nearest the wheel. I honestly can't imagine how much material you'd have to put under the jack, and how high you'd have to jack the unit by lifting under the frame. YJ(acking)MV. :)

To jack my 5'vr via frame would require 14" cribbing blocks at each jacking point just to get bottle jack to frame.
Like I'm really going to do that for changing a tire or inspecting/working on brakes/bearings. Under the spring perch between the u-bolts has worked for me. - AniJetExplorerI've had my MS off the ground more than most, replaced an axle, removed the Center Point junk, completed a 4 wheel alignment....... If I'm working on the axles I jack under the spring pads and set the frame on truck stands. If I just need a wheel or two off the ground it's under the spring pads only with bottle jacks. You can't bend the axle by jacking under the pads, that is transfering the weight through the welded on axle pads to the axle. If you jack on the axle tube, yes you will bend the axle and probably ruin it. There is an easy way to lift the trailer and get it on stands, if interested, PM me.
