Just picked up a 2006 Attitude 26' toy hauler 2 weeks ago.....It has two 50 gallon water tanks.We went out w last weekend and had a little problem.we ran out of water a little to quick....I crawled under the tanks..... first tank was empty and the 2nd tank was full but not transferring to the first one. maybe a vent type problem. It was saturday night and I just poured in 30 gallons from a drum I had in the bed of my truck into the 1st tank.... all worked well.Today I emptied both tanks at home.....2nd tank 1.5" transfer hose was 100% clear and also the 3/8 or 1/2" vent hose.Soon why didn't the 2nd tank transfer over to the 1st tank last weekend?Thank you for your help folks, Robert.

I too have an attitude with 2 tanks, mine has a single common fill, and have an equalizing tube and cross vents. Do you have two fill tubes ? I ask as how did both tanks fill,or how did you fill the empty tank? I suspect there may be plastic plug in the one of your tanks keeping a vent or equalizer from working after it was full, but did not block it as you were filling. I learned I need to fill the water slowly or allow time for the tanks to equalize prior to topping it off. I top off 3 times to be sure. If the water doesn't start pouring out immmeadeately, I know the tanks are still equalizing.

Humm, tanks should equalize normally.

The 1st tank went empty and the 2nd tank was full but not transferring / equalizing all along as it should have with the first one.... so when I put in the 30 gallons it went into the 1st tank. If it happens again on our Thanksgiving outing I will pull the vent hose off that #2 tank and see if that does the trick of moving the water to the #1 tank as it should be doing all along.

The vent you see at the fill point probably goes to tank #1 and there's a separate vent for tank #2. Look to find this vent and ensure it's clear and not plugged. It could well be also that the #2 tanks vent was never installed.

Hopefully it was a one time fluke.
I was helping a friend with a similar issue years ago and it drove us nuts to figure out:
One of his tanks had a thick paper tag floating around inside of it. The tag would get pulled into the drain/cross over outlet and stop the flow. We dropped the tank to fish it out. Took a few weekends to figure out something had to be in the tank..........

Since you have been so through in your investigation, I am guessing it is something like this, please let us know the outcome and good luck.

I know I am overlooking something..... you guys have gave me some idea's and direction to go in..... And I thank you folks for that!

But still..... what a pain.... I will buy one of those Home Depot water meters. I know they are just for a reference but still it will be interesting to use. I have a 30 gallon drum to test it on.

There is no 2nd tank feed to the pump. Feeds from the first tank only.

I will take pictures in the next two days..... I should have did that already to help everyone out.

So we now have a math problem:

Tank A and Tank B each hold X amount of water.

Tanks A and B are equalized by a hose of Y inside diameter.

Tank A is being filled at a rate of ? Gallons per minute.

Water flows from Tank A to Tank B by atmospheric pressure at a rate of Z Gallons per Minute.

How long will it take to fill Tank B?

Question where is your equalizer line, if it is not at the bottom of your tanks I can not see how any water will transfer back from tank 2 to tank 1.

I also have dual tanks and my supply line comes off the bottom of both tanks with a tee at tank 1, just like you said your vent line is, check and see if there is a plug some where low or on the bottom of tank 2 that a supply line could hooked too and just tee into the other supply line.

You really can't overfill them but if you have a lot of air in one and it doesn't purge out all the way it's not complexity full, you can knock to figure out if your full. But towards the top of your tanks you won't know for sure. The only other way to make sure you line is not blocked fill it and dump it and measure each bucket.

Use paper plates and cups. Limit your showers!!

Place a bucket in you shower and run the water for five minutes and really see how much water your really using.

I agree with you..... before I left for our trip last weekend I did go under the tanks to watch them and to check them as they were filling up.
They were both full....................I was tapping and knocking on them as they were filling up.
MAYBE....I overfilled them and filled up the vent hose? Don't know.

I just can't figure this one out other than like I have said, If it happens again at Thanksgiving I will pull the vent hose off on the 2nd tank to see if that releases the 2nd tanks water..... and of course it should be going down evenly with the first tank the whole time.

So I have a 2007 Attitude when you fill the tanks you half to do it slow if you do it fast it indicate your (tanks) are full but there not! And it well vent like it's full but only one is full.

I looked at it this morning.... tank #2 vent goes to tank #1 vent which is a "T" fitting and then looks like it goes up to the screened area by the single filler neck area.

This looks way too simple to be clogged the way it was.

I pulled the equalizer hose and it was 100% clear.
I did blow into the vent lines and they were clear.

Looking for a spot on my wall to bang my head!....lol.

The only thing that I can think of is....... If it happens again this Thanksgiving outing.... I will pull the vent hose off tank #2 and see if that releases the water in that tank.

Lost.....But at least I have you guys for direction, Thank you.

If the #2 tank vent was never installed, it would never have filled.
