It all comes down to the fact that your rear axle housing and components are not heavy enough to handle much more than 2500 lbs.
There are perfectly decent fifth wheels that you can pull, but it's not one of the full size units like Big Horn or some of the Montanas.
I bought a 2015 Grand Design Reflection 323BHS trailer that weighs 11K and has a pin weight of 2K--dry. They're the max I want to carry with my F250 diesel. Any heavier, and you've got to go 1 ton dual rear wheels. And with my trailer, we're not lacking for anything--suits our needs perfectly.
If I was buying a new truck today, it'd have duals.
