My TT has a 1204LB. tw at 50" from centerline of the rear end. 3000lbs your truck will be level. Don't buy the 3500. They ride like a lumber wagon and you will miss the significant advantage of the five link coil spring suspension.
Needing advice from the pros. I am about to purchase a new Ram 2500 with the 6.7 Cummins. For 2015 the best payload I can get (according to the documentation) is about 2600 lbs. The towing capacity is 17K lbs. and that is more than enough.
We are also considering a new 5er later in the year, and the models on our short list have hitch weight of 2000 – 2400lbs.
With the Ram 2500 I will be cutting in very close on payload. I’ve looked at the Kelderman air system as an after-market add-on.
Will an after-market air system actually allow me a bit more payload?
Are there any suggestions for a particular brand or model?

Some one with actual experience with the same truck.
Refreshing considering some with no experience with the product would have you buying a truck thats not needed.
We have another member who has the 2500 with the new 6.4 Hemi and tows a 11k-12k 5th wheel trailer. Maybe he will come online and give you some of his actual experience with the new 2500 truck.
I notice on some of the truck camper forums the Kelderman air suspension upgrade for the new 2500 coil spring truck is very popular for carrying those 3k+ truck campers. Of course the 17" wheels and tires will need to be upgraded to 18" if your carrying weight above the trucks 6200-6500 RAWR.
The 2500 Ram with a 6200-6500 RAWR won't have any problems carrying 2000-2400 lb pin weight. Stay under whatever your trucks certified RAWR for safety reasons.
If you change your mind and go with the SRW just be aware some don't have as much payload as some 2500 trucks. Gotta' choose the right packages and selections.
