New Hitch Question

Currently I have a standard weight distribution hitch and friction sway control and I am looking to upgrade to something better.

Now when I run with or without my toys dictates how many links I pull up.

I was looking into buying a Equalizer 4 point sway, but since I found that I get better results adjusting my hitch for my towing profile, I was looking at Reese Dual Cam because of the ability to still adjust by links.

I know that the friction bar has got to go. Been putting up with it for too long. I do know that the cadillacs of the hitch industry are too far out of my price range ie Hensley and Propride.

Thanks in advance!
  • Look at the Blue Ox Sway Pro. It is adjustable via chain links like the Reese, very easy to install and setup, makes virtually no noise at all, and is very clean (no greasy bars). It's a great hitch.
  • Hensley has a used program with prices that are not much more than the new products you are looking at. You would be very wise to figure out a way to buy the best. "Buy once and done." "The pain of the price of lesser quality lingers far after the joy of a cheaper price has waned."
  • I use the Equal-i-zer adjusted the same loaded or not. Putting the MC in the TH only lightens the tongue 100#. Loading 800#+ of water only changes the tongue weight by 100#. Consequently my tongue weight is always between 900# and 1,100#. It doesn't make any difference to the Equal-i-zer or the towing feel.
  • I have had the Reese Dual Cam unit for 1.5 years now and have no problem with it. I have 1,950# weight at the hitch and have never changed the number of links. I haul 4 ATVs in the back with no issues. The unit does pop and bang when I go through corners but I know what that sounds like and I don't always hear it. I have never had a sway problem with the unit and took a 5050 mile trip this summer with no issues. I know I hear a lot of negative comments on the unit but mine has worked perfectly. My wife also hooked it up in July by herself and drove 300 miles one way to a camp site at the southern coast of Oregon. She had no problems and this was the first time she had ever used the toy hauler. Just thought I would let you know that the Reese unit has worked very well for me.
  • I've been using the same Reese Dual Cam setup for almost ten years now and I love it. I towed without the Dual Cam for almost a year before upgrading. The difference was unbelievable.

I'm sure there are better systems out there, but this was the one that fit my budget. I've never been sorry. And Reese has been great to work with. One time I cut a turn too short and one of my WD bars fell off. I went back to find it the next morning, but never could find it. When I called Reese to try to buy one single WD bar, the tech I talked to asked me a few questions and then determined that it fell off because of a defect in their hitch head. So instead of selling me another bar, he sent me a free set of bars and a brand new (redesigned) hitch head. Good stuff.
