Thanks for the input everyone. I guess I will stay with my 310. I cleaned the gasket and put vasoline on the gasket and it slides much better and will hold water. I guess I will just keep using it and keep the vasoline handy for now. I don't want to swap one problem for another.

Thetford makes a good toilet. The Style II is a breeze to work on but as other have mentioned, it is probably easier to buy a whole new one. These toilets are not residential toilets and the parts are plastic. They only have so many cycles in them. I am of the opinion that after 300 nights (2 people) you should rebuild it or replace it to avoid problems. Of course more people would shorten that life cycle.

It took me an hour to remove, replace parts and reinstall. But the parts on Amazon where almost $75. You can get a new Style II for $160 on sale.

I installed a Thetford Aria months after purchasing our Cardinal new in 2007. It is not a cheap toilet but is as close as you will get to a residential commode. It is a total ceramic unit and has a large base. It sits on the floor without any wobble. It requires more space than most, so make sure that you have room for it. We camp about 60 nights a year and it has been flawless.

I'm not picking side here, just want to make a comment. In our 12 years of FTing this is what I've noticed with my experience of rebuilding numerous toilets for friends and myself. Many of the issues are "self inflicted". The biggest issue is folks cleaning toilets with caustic cleaners ruining the bowl seal (removes the thin layer of the Teflon coating) in short order. I use the Dollar Store version of Scrubby Bubbles. Or they try cleaning the throat of the toilet with a toilet brush (tears up seal). The seal starts binding which adds effort/load on the foot pedal and cable mechanism. In due time it also causes gaulding of the waste ball. Once I discovered this situation, our toilet has been fine for 5 years. Our first seal went out at 4 months old. I didn't read this information anywhere, I figured it out. Not too difficult. Yes, the water valves can be an issue, seems that calcium builds up internally and a piece breaks loose and gets caught up in the seal and makes it leak externally, mainly when the pedal is pressed down. We use a water softener to minimize that. Just my thoughts. rockin'

I've been happy with our Dometic 310. The only negative has been the ball seals are finicky when the toilet doesn't get used often. Once the water in the bowl has evaporated, the seal dries out and gets crusty. The seals are more expensive than they should be, but luckily are easily rejuvenated. An annoyance more than a real problem. After 6 years, the mechanism has been flawless.

6 Months ago I replaced our Thetford Style II piece of junk with a Dometic 320. MUCH better!

When my latest Thetford ***** out (pun definitely intended) I will be looking at a Dometic. If memory serves the 310 will fit and possibly the 320, but I won't buy another Thetford if I have any other option.

I would love to use a different model, but the one you mention won't fit. It is too long from the center of the hole in the floor to the back.

I have either the Dometic 310 or 320. Just can't remember the exact number. It is porcelain. I should have installed sooner. It is an excellent toilet.

Everybody I know that has had the POS Thetford Aqua-Magic fail and that is ALOT of us! has replaced it with the Dometic 310 or 320 and have been very happy with them so I am surprised Your Dometic "crapped"out on ya,I installed a Dometic 310 on my 2012 and my 2015 and both have been reliable
