It came with Tacoma Trail Masters LT's. Made in USA. It has a set of Firestone Trans Force on it now. We have put almost 9k on them in 10 weeks of traveling since Sept.'13. So far I am a happy RV'er.

Just one spare for me. No place in the US is that far from a tire store that the truck would not make it alone if two trailer tires were needed. Have used the single spare on two occasions in nine years.

I have replaced 1 flat last year,bought 2 new for passenger side of fifth. This year 35 minutes after a rest stop and checking the tires I blew one on I39 SB, rear on drivers side. Didn't even feel a thing.Lady honked and pointed.
That tire came off as one solid tread wrapped around the hub and axle and took out the hydraulic brake hose right at the nipple. Changed tire out.
I limped 20 miles to a CG. Was able to order two new matching tires and get brake line replaced over 3 days.
I now have a mounted spare on steel rim and will get the extra tire mounted as well.
These are the only 2 flats I've had in 10 years. Both spares are now older tires so I will be cautious. All the tires on the 5th are new and 1 year old.

If I was running Maxxis STs, or any other STs, I would just make my first stop a tire store to get some real tires.

I run the GY G614 so I carry a spare in the back just to take some weight off the pin a little :)

Serious I drove a bolt through one on vacation a month ago, and it cost $380 to replace it and a few hours inconvenience, but still felt no desire to carry two spares.

Back in travel trailer days, we carried 2 spares even when using Maxxis 14” STs. Reason is that when one tire blows, the other gets over loaded and often goes soon after. We now run LTs on the fifth wheel with only one spare, but we use a very readily available size and brand of LTs. Just told the wife about this thread—she says better carry 4 if running STs.

I believe my Maxxis to be as good (or better) than GY or M brand tires--but no matter what brand, a screw or nail or deep pothole or whatever WILL take out a tire. Quite frankly, even with GS or whatever services are out there, being stuck in a location off road with a potential double flat is not in my plans. As for planning to fail vs. succeed...I do put on my seat belt every time I get in to drive...I suppose that's considered planning to fail (or have an accident)??

Gave up on the Good Sam ERS card. Changing the tire was covered, but wanted $400 to bring a tire.

One spare.

Not necessarily in that order.
