Hi everyone. I'm new to Rv's and wanted to know if its a nightmare dealing with bondocking a fifth wheel? im planning on like a 19-21 ft one, nothing too big, and just a v6 manual tranny pickup to tow it....im hoping anyone here can point me some info on what its like parking on a street with it? also, can i deattach it from my truck and park it alone somewhere? I've camped in Vans before and got away pretty well with always parking it for free...but, with an RV, i feel I'll be harrassed more by cops.

Are you really talking about boondocking? Or being homeless? I can't think of any residential area where someone wouldn't call the cops if they saw an unknown RV parked on their street overnight. In commercial areas, I would be more concerned about safety at night after all the businesses were closed. thanks for the replies....the point for me getting an RV is to move around...when i say im in los angeles, just think Southern California...I'm looking for a more nomadic lifestyle now that working online is very possible...I like the idea of being able to work and have fun, living where i want to.

I see this is your first post. If your question is a legitimate one -there are statements which make me question it - then, NO, it's not ok to park a 5er on the street. You can't just live anywhere you want.

Go online and find a campground in the area you would like to live in at that particular time and make a reservation... Once there , work , play , stay hooked up,,disconnect,, whatever floats your boat! Don't just pick a street and call it home ... That's Trouble

In my town there are ordinances about that sort of thing. I'll bet other towns have them too.
