I have a chateau new millennium 2000 fifth wheel that we have lived in for a year while we picked the pieces of our life back up. We are just moving out.and code enforcement came by and said the camper couldn't be stored on a vacant lot owned by my family, it has to be stored at RV storage. Fine! We were all set to move it, last step was pulling in the slide out. It won't retract!At first it made a clicking sound and I could feel the vibration under.my feet but nothing happened. I pushed OUT for a second and it did scoot out a few centimeters no problem but won't retract at all. I can't afford the 250 dollar a day fine so this thing needs to go asap! It sometimes makes a clicking sound.that seems to be electrical but I'm not sure. The only weight on it is the table/chairs built into it and a 20 pound dog crate so I don't.think it is too heavy. I looked in the manual and it said some models can be retracted manually but there was no instruction beyond that.

do you have power to the rv ?plug into your truck, start the truck and idle while you try to pull the slide in...may take a while to get battery charged...and can have someone 'help' it by pushing as you pull it in...always push on a strong place though :)oh and ensure your master switch is on...

crawl under and lok for screw shaft. Slow but most will crank in or out. Then later look for fuse or other problem. If it isn't going in straight you may have to push or pull one side.

If you respond to my post then I'll know you're not trolling.

The RV is hooked up to the pole so no shortage of power. Give me a minute to.crawl under but I'm not sure what I'm looking at.

Can you manually crank the slide in?Is there a crank handle in the coach somewhere?

The motor will run if a bolt on the linking shaft sheers. Most likely only 1 side of the slide will move jamming it.

My 2010 Freedom Express had the same problem, turned out to be limit switch for retraction. Would go out fine but would only click when trying to retract. I have a Happi Jac slide their website shows how to find controller and how to manually retract the slide they were very helpful on the phone to. I was able to find the controller and locate the wires going to the limit switch. I jumped these wires bypassing the limit switch and the slide works fine. I'm waiting to remove couch to replace the bad switch.

Had my share of stuck slides.

Need 2 people. 1 to operate switch. 1 to operate the manual shaft. A turn or 2 in outhe right direction while intermittently hitting the switch could get you going.

Be careful. The shaft spins quickly.

That happened to mine and it was a bad “clutch gear” in the slide gear box. I had to put a wrench on the rod that went into the gear box and turn it till it “unlocked” and then the slide would retract. The wrench will be hard to turn to unlock the gear. Put a lot of pressure on it, you wont break it. There should be an access door on the bottom of the trailer to get to the gear box opposite the slide.
The gear box will cost a lot to replace if you get it from the dealer, contact the manufacturer that made the box and it is much cheaper.

Okay! I don't know what's wrong with this thing. I found the motor and that is what makes the click sound like a car trying to start. But with that I also found where to crank it. Instead of a crank you use a tire iron to pump it, like a jack. The motor was located in one of the outdoor side compartments which I had to use a screwdriver to open.because the key for that particular one is long gone it seems. But at least the slider is almost in! Just a few more minutes of cranking and I will be in business. Thank you for all the help! Hoping to sell this thing soon so I guess this is just another quirk of the unit.

I also had a loose ground wire on the battery and the jacks wouldn't operate.

This will probably take 2 people, but put a voltage meter on the battery and check the voltage when you hit the slide button. If it goes below 11 volts the battery doesn't have enough charge to operate the slide. If it goes to zero you probably have a short in the battery.
