Satelite TV for Fver

Hulu and Netflix charge about $10 a month. I have internet from AT&T over the cell phone system. No set up, no dish to tote, I can select what I want to watch. Is there a reason I need a dish???

Anyone tried these services???

Since you already have the 211k, I agree with the others: get the tailgater. I spent many years lugging around a dish 500 and tripod, using a aiming device and yelling back and forth "is there a signal now". BTW, with only a Dish 500 you are missing a lot of HD TV, if that's your bag.

I now have a Winegard Travler: pretty pricey and a permanent solution, but it sure beats all that "yelling".

I use a receiver from the house along with an HD Dish receiver mounted on a tri-pod. Take a minute to level the tri-pod( I have level permanently mounted on the tri-pod.It takes about 5 minutes to find the satellites on a bad day. When there a lot of trees in the way..I have enough cable to find an open spot.

Camping World has a portable auto dish n their catalog. Beats the heck out of trying to level a tripod and mess around finding the satellite. I have a seldom used low profile Kingdome sitting in the garage. I had it removed from the motorhome prior to selling it. I was going to use it as a portable dish on the ground but think I will just sell it and get the Camping World one. The Montana came with a dish already installed. Love the auto feature.

I agree that with Dish Network the Tailgater is the way to go but it only works with the VIP-211K receiver. It connects to three sats 110, 119, & 129 for full HD programming. When changing channels it does take a few seconds to change between the sats as it only looks at one at a time.

I absolutely LOVE mine. Full HD, completely automatic, turn it on, tell it what state you're in, eg, WA, CA, PA, etc, (Intoxicated is not a choice), and literally five minutes later you're watching TV.

Cost is substantially less than any other FULLY automatic dish system. Self pointing dish and matching HD receiver is $500 through Dish for existing or new customers. I already had the compatible receiver, so I got the antenna for $350.

If you have a HDTV ready monitor don't rule out also planning on picking up full screen high def digital TV using the OTA crank up BATWING antenna.

You can watch local Natl Broadcast digital signals with this setup and will work great with the SAT TV receiver you are bringing with you.

Setup the standard way to use to OTA antenna and then use the SAT TV video outputs of the SAT RCVR to feed a VIDEO INPUT of your HDTV ready monitor.

This way you can select LOCAL ANTENNA HDTV or SAT TV by just using your HDTV ready TV Remote...

The NATL BROADCAST local TV also carries a bunch of other full HDTV signals as well.

Being in the OFF-ROAD POPUP back in the woods makes having the 24/7 local NATL BROADCAST RADAR stations a big plus for us to have to get heads up on local storms in the area.

We even do this when watching CABLE TV hookups at camp sites. Its kinda neat for us to view all of the LOCAL NATL BROADCAST TV stations in full high def mode.
