Scare light mystery

We have a new to us 2007 Challenger 34SAQ.

Most of the interior lights had already been converted to LED bulbs but the outside ones had not.

I ordered the comparable LED replacements and replaced them, all except the little light next to the landing gear switch on the outside front under the bedroom area. All 3 of the old scare light bulbs had burnt out so don't know if this was already a problem.

There is 1 scare light in between the slides on the kitchen side. It is located between the bedroom slide and the kitchen slide. It will not go out.

We have 4 light switches on the wall at the staircase (which is the most unhandy place to have them!) and none of those will turn it off, yet the scare light switch will operate the other ones just fine. The door light and the scare light switches work on the appropriate lights WITH THE EXCEPTION of the one mentioned above.

Also, it does not seem to be any kind of motion detector or light sensor type of light as it is on during the daytime.

We do not have any remote control to turn on and off the lights and we cannot find any outside switch that might turn it off.

Can anyone tell me where the switch might be for it? I hate to have to pull the bulb out and not use it.

Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help!
  • We have been unable to find any switch in the bedroom or anywhere else for it.

We have also unhooked from shore power and disconnected the batteries. The light did go out then but when we hooked the batteries back up it came on again and hasn't gone out since.
  • You might try to research your trailer to see if some kind of a remote was part of the OEM package. I have a remote with my trailer that operates the slides, awning, front and rear stabilizers, and a scare light on the door side. It took me a while to discover the "scare light icon" on the remote, and to figure out that it overrode the inside switch. At some point I had apparently turned the light on with the remote, and couldn't figure out how to turn it off until the dealer pointed out the remote also controlled that light.
    Good luck.
  • Does the unit have the remote receiver in one of the front compartments? Maybe something is labeled on such a device and moving a wire to disconnect the light is possible.
    Just a thought.
  • I own a 2005 Challenger 34 TBH and all my scare lights are all on one switch. I know this doesn't help but I don't think Keystone would put one light on its own switch. They could not even put my slides on their own switches.3 slides 1 switch.
  • My in-laws Montana has both scare lights on one switch, but my Cedar Creek has them on 2 switches.
