Schwintek slide VERY noisy

Any suggestions welcomed...we are on our first week of 9 road trip out in the southwest in our new 2013 Jayco Eagle premier 361mkqs fiver. Been camping for 5 years, first summer in new camper.

Our main kitchen/entertainment slide with the schwintek in wall system makes a very loud and high pitched screeching sound moving in or out. The sound is off and on through out the cycle and loud enough to draw attention from the neighbors. The slide comes in and out squarely and shuts perfectly minus the noise. Just started yesterday. I have checked all rollers, tracks, seals, motors, etc. all are in good shape. No obstructions. No signs of rubbing or wear and tear. I tried lubricant on wheels and tracks, no difference. The large floor rollers are working correctly and quietly. The sound is from the vertical schwintek mechanism with the gears and shaft inside.

I don't wont to loose time for a repair if I can fix this myself. I am a former auto mechanic with many common tools on hand.

Suggestions?

Update your lube to Motorkote Spray. Beats EVERY other brand of lube on market.

You may want to contact the manufacturer - they may have come up with a fix to your issue - sealing or something.

  • Yep that did it. Anyone with a noisy schwintek should should shoot lube down into the lower drive shaft/worm gear boxes if road spray can enter from the bottom up. Shame on Jayco for not sealing them from the bottom. Six complete cycles today, likenew again.
  • Still not right...lubed all I could and cycled a dozen times and drove 700 miles. Still making noises. I did find today that the bottom of the large kitchen schwintek slide is exposed to the tire wheel/water/road grime that the other schwinteks are protected from when closed. So, looking more closely behind the seals down into to the lower worm gear box, I saw a rusty drive shaft entering. Shot some liquid lube into box. So, fingers crossed. Leaving in the am for another 8 hour ride to New Mexico area. Update in a few days. If this fixes it, then solution will be to protect the bottom from the road spray and keep lubed. Shame on Jayco if this fixes it. The schwintek needs to be protected.
  • Lubricated the rollers and their bearings, seems like less screeching, but still a dull medium pitched vibration noise. Something isn't quite right. We are moving from New Orleans to San Antonio tomorrow. I will update in a few miles and cycles of the slide.

Had the same problem with my 2013 Eagle Premier 351MKTS. The toothed track bar on the slideout rides on a roller. I lubed the rollers ( one on each bar) with WD40. Stopped the noise right away. Hasn't come back since. To find the roller wheel just pull the rubber seal back a bit. You will see it right away.

Thanks for the tip...I have seen and lubed the outside of the rollers, where they meet the track, but not the actual bearings within the rollers. It looked like they were sealed type bearings. Going to get a spray lube right now. Let you soon.

Though they are not supposed to require lubrication - try a little spray lube and see what happens. You may be able to spray in the gear and roller area behind the seal.

Just sprayed a silicon lube on tracks, rollers, wheels, seals etc. not really any better. Any other suggestions?
