So I had a shortbed crewcab, and I went to a longbed extended cab, which are the same length. but the one thing no one has said yet is: (at least in my old Chev) the short bed had a 26 gallon gas tank and the long bed has a 35 gallon tank. Big thing for me, my friends that I camp with had a long bed and I always had to fill up before he did.

My standard bed 3/4 Crew cab has a 38 gallon tank. I think any of the HD trucks come with the bigger tank now. - MrDExplorerSo I had a shortbed crewcab, and I went to a longbed extended cab, which are the same length. but the one thing no one has said yet is: (at least in my old Chev) the short bed had a 26 gallon gas tank and the long bed has a 35 gallon tank. ok what size is considerd standered
A Ford Super Duty Regular Cab's floor length of bed = 98.0"
The Super Duty SWB = 81.8 or 98.0 for the LWB in either the Super Cab or the Crew Cab versions.
I don't think there is a standard length anymore. At least for Ford. If Ford offers different bed lengths for the versions above then the ones stated above would be considered "standard"
-BC- - hhoffmanExplorerwithin the last year I've had both a short box and a long box and just the comfort of the longer wheelbase and additional room make the long box the best idea. If you plan on towing a fiver over 10k Lbs a 1 ton is better than 3/4 ton. Just my thoughts.
- VulcaneerExplorerPretty much depends on what you do with the truck when NOT towing. Or if you need a dually for your towing needs. As most duallies are long bed. Except the Ram Mega Cab dually. That is a long wheelbase truck with a shorter bed.
I have no need for a long bed. So my 6.75' bed is good. - reasleyExplorer

If yer gonna buy a truck? Buy the whole truck!!
Love it...
I've had the short wheel base truck, but prefer the long. It rides much better and, at least with the Chevy, has a larger fuel tank. - AZ_T_TExplorer

In Chevy and GMC the 6.5' bed is standard, the 8' bed is long and the 5' bed is short. - musicman54Explorerok what size is considerd standered
- Buckeye_ChuckExplorerI have a F250 crew cab with a 6'7" bed. I have a 16K Reese manual slider that I use every time I back into a site. It's easy to use and gives me one less thing to watch out for, so why not? I want to park in my garage and I use my truck for a daily driver so no long bed/ long wheel base for me, and I can park it almost anywhere.
-BC- - mpierceExplorer8' used to be standard bed. Now, it is called long, and std is a shorter one! Like everything, nowadays less is more!
