With the lower (higher numerical) axle ratios, this option also includes a larger 11.8" AAM rear axle. The 2016 3500 (actually, all 2013 and up 3500s) also has a different (stronger) frame and different suspension than the 2500.

Is that sufficient background to say that the 3500 is a different truck than the 2500?

Ok now you are going too far with what is needed to tow the RV mentioned. A 13K RV will be about 17K loaded if full timing. The 17K would be easily handled with the F350 Dually you mentioned.

Now if the RV starts getting heavier the RAM 3500 or F450 should be considered.

32,500# in pic. Front, rear axles and combined weight is within SAE ratings.

A new trailer is empty and weighs less. Just sayin.

Not knowing the particulars of either the trailer or truck a lot of assumptions made here. In all likelihood he will exceed his trucks payload but and maybe not his rear axle rating.

As most 3/4 ton diesel owners here with 5th wheels, they are exceeding GVWR but not axle ratings.

Yep, the 2500 will tow it but the 2500 can't handle the pin weight. Payload is often overlooked and it is stated on a big white/yellow placard in the driver's door jamb. How can people not see this?

Our new Montana with only 3 slides has 3400 lbs of pin weight when loaded for the road. Pretty good load for a 2500.

On my SRW 3500 Quad Cab, 4 WD, 8 foot bed Dodge diesel 3.73 axle ratio dodge body builder says the towing limit is 12800 pounds. I think that is at the number I remember.

When I switch to a fifth wheel from a truck camper in not to far future I want to be in the limits suggested by manufacturer. With the camper I am over the payload rating, but axle and tires are within load capacities.
