Taylor Park

We are taking our RZRs and heading to Taylor Park, Colorado this weekend. For those who have been there, do you know of a method of going from Taylor Park to Crested Butte without trailering? I've heard there is a trail somewhere by a lake that allows access, but cannot find where I read this.

Help.

  • I didn't know if you could get a jeep through Pearl. You sure as hell wouldn't get me to ride in it if you did!!

  • My son just told me it was Pearl Pass that we went through with Jeeps. As I said before it was about 8 years ago.
  • No legal way to ride from TP to CB. Cement Creek is as close as you will get. You can go over Taylor Pass and ride down into Aspen for lunch and eat at the worlds most expensive Mac Donald's. :)
  • The motorcycle guys, if they are street legal, can do it. I don't know if you can get a jeep over Pearl Pass but maybe you could connect to Taylor Pass and make it from there. Taylor Pass does make you ride through the river for a ways. We've just rented a trailer from the Campgroung at Taylor Park and hauled over that way. FYI Chrested Butte is not ATV/SXS friendly.

  • you can ride from Taylor Park to within 7 miles south of Crested Butte. All the roads into Crested Butte itself are posted No ATV's. So you can't connect to any of the other Crested Butte trails from here or any other point that I'm aware of.
From Taylor Park ride the Italian Creek Road (759) to the Reno Divide Road (759) to the Cement Creek Rd (740). Just before the Cement Creek Rd hits Hwy 135, at the NFS boundary, no ATV's beyond this point. Or from Taylor River Rd you can use FS 748/744 Reno Ridge Rd to get to the same point above at Reno Divide and 759 down to 740.
The only trails through the forest connecting Cement Creek to Brush Creek Rd, which is a little closer to town, are motorcycle only designated trails.
  • We Jeeped that area about 8 years ago so I cant remember every thing about it but I do remember taking a trail from Crested Butte to Taylor Park. We came out onto 742 and went right heading south to the north end of Taylor reservoir. Part of the trail took us in the river at times. I will ask my son if he remembers the name of the trail and send you a message. Don't forget Tincap and St Elmo.
  • Bad brad, we too are heading to TP next weekend I coming across cottonwood pass from I have found out there basically two ways in and out of TP. you can jump over to RZRforums.net there is thread on TP. Hope this helps!
