Hello Folks,First, thank you to all the veterans and families of veterans out there.On a run from Hot Springs today, we experienced our first blowout! We are grateful that no one was hurt. We are also grateful that we were able to limp on the shoulder about 1/2 mile and pull slowly into a TA travel center without incident.Once there we learned that our 2011 Cameo came artfully equipped with a lug wrench that diid not fit. Again, grateful to find that the travel center we pulled into had a roadside assistant (for big rigs) so the tire swap was rather fast.About 2 years ago we outfitted our rig with the G614 product from Goodyear (4 plus the spare). Once the spare was installed I was very surprised to see the tread wear vastly different between the 'new' spare, and the tires on the ground. These tires have made runs between Dallas and Austin, a rub to Colorado Springs, and a few runs to Hot Springs from Dallas as well. All in all, likely less than 10k miles. Shouldn't these hold up a bit better? I have been diligent about pressure, etc., but I am curious as to other experiences with these tires.Please feel free to chime in if you have another experience or brand too. What was the date on the tires....how fast do you drive.....how much does each tire support (weight)....what max wt and max cold tp....you need to put a lot more data in your post.....

You might want to have a real trailer service shop check the alignment on your axles. I put about 10k miles each a Horse Trailer, FW, and Utility trailer yearly. I've never come close to actually wearing out a tire in 12 years. I do put new tires on the trailers every 3 years due to age.

The alignment advise is good. Other question is do you perform a lot of tight turning? With your travel patterns your tires should be replaced due to age before they ever wear out (5 years).

Have you checked your spring hanger shackles for wear,usually wear oblong where the bolts run through and will put your axels out of alignment, a wet bolt kit will fix it up,if thats the issue. The G,s are a great wearing tire, mine were in use for 40000 miles /6 years on a 14700 lb fiver before we replaced them.

The G614's on my 5er (GVW of 16,950#), run at 110 psi ..That's what 5er manufacturer recommends as well as Goodyear on "my" 5er...Sometimes weighing each tire isn't realistic, unless one has the time and knows where to go to get this done...IF tires are OEM weight rated and size is correct, at the very least, run at max sidewall psi rating. (110 on the GY G614's). I've had one tire failure on a GY G614 on sig 5er, loaded to 16,000# and that was due to a weak spring pack that took the tread off the tire..never lost air..Those tires were original tires that came on my 5er, manufacture date of 0606 (6th week of 2006)...tire was 4 yrs old and again, tire didn't fail, spring pack on that tire was sagging
terribly.

Just saying if one doesn't have the time or resources to weigh each tire then go with max sidewall pressure IF tire is OEM size and weight rating. I've been towing since 75 through the mountains of WV, TN, NC, SC and VA and the above incident was the first and so far only tire issue I have had and I ran tire at manufacturers recommended psi rating

We tow around 62. Best mileage for the duramax and best mph for the co-pilot .
Good for the tires also

I tow between 55-62 mph unless posted speed limit is lower. I have hit 65 on occasion, but will slow back down to 62 mph...I get my best mpg with speed between 55 and 62 mph....Not in any hurry to get from point A to point B, just want to be safe in getting there.:)

I have blown an ST tire after 35 miles of leaving factory with new trailer. Heard a boom felt a little rough pulling started seeing smoke. Tire was split straight down sidewall. ST tires are unreliable. Their fragile.

Nobody I see tows that slow. If 65 is max count me out.

I rarely exceed 75 unless there is some need for passing, etc. Except for backing in/out of sites and storage, I don't think we do an unusual amount of tight turning. In fact, we typically book pull-thru sites.

We bought the rig new in 2011. In a few short months, the stock tires started bubbling (Duro brand), so we did the research and replaced them in late 2011 (we bought 5 to cover the spare too). I just spoke with the shop I bought them from, they explained the tires were made in 2011.

I haven't been to storage to check the dates on the sidewall yet. Nor have I had a chance to get pictures.

The tread wear seems even on the remaining 3 tires on the ground. It just looks to be about half the depth or perhaps less than the spare (which had never been on the ground). Maybe that's normal, I just seems like a big difference to me.

I am surprised that we've worn that much tread. I will check the alignment and other items mentioned here - thank you for the thoughts.

Any input is welcome, but for now, I'll have to replace the blown tire, then check this other stuff out. Once we get to the bottom of it we may replace all the tires. We have longer trips planned this summer and want the peace of mind.
