Trailer Tires in the NW Oregon area

I'm not opposed to removing the wheels myself. My jack and stands should do the job, although I could probably do only one side at a time. (I don't have that many heavy duty jack stands, didn't need them for VWs)

Perhaps I could find out more about the wheels and axles themselves that way. Still not sure what all I'm looking at with some of this stuff, but I'm learning. Also trying to not cheap out on things and make them right the first time.

If your able to jack it up and remove the wheels in a parking lot, Costco will have the best price by far. IIRC they have the T/A's and Michelin Ribs, but not the Bridgestone R250's. BTW those are the only ones I would bother with in the 6k axle variety.

I'm not sure. Factory with the trailer I'm sure of that.

Factory tire called for ST 235/80/16 LRD (Marathons labelled at 3k lbs. per tire) Loaded down camping I'm sure we are already pushing the limit of these tires. By the date code, I'm sure they are original to the trailer. (2004 Terry Quantum AX6 345RLTS)

Anyway to find out what size axles Fleetwood/Terry put under my camper?

Firestone LT HT Proforce tires are also a possibility but theY also will not install a 3,040 rated tire which originally had a 3500 lb rated tire installed OEM.

I purchased 4 Bridgestone Duravais R250 LT tires from Costco on sale for about $100 more than the Firestones and about $400 less than the Michelin Ribs. Costco does not install tires on Trailers. They don't have room in theor lots to do so. So you have to bring in your wheels and they will dismount the old and mount and balance the new on your rims. Then you need to install the wheels yourself on the trailer.

Also note ..... that most tire companies will not warranty LT tires mounted on a Trailer/5th wheel. However, after having two sets of ST tires fail, one failure causing RV damage, I decided I'd rather have good tires w/o a warranty than bad tires with a warranty.

The LT235/85-16 E has 3042 lbs capacity and works great on 6k axles.

What size axles does your trailer have ?

Looking around, I think a BFG Commericial T/A may be my best bet. I'd hate to have problems. My wife and I have plans of some longer distance stuff (such as Texas). Seeing people who have made in China ST tires, last all of 1k miles or so. Sounds like nightmare material to me.

Both Carlisle and Towmax ST tires have the new nylon cap for better heat resistance.

Hankook would be a much better choice and was my choice until I got my commercial ta. Americas/discount has a wide choice of tires. And service second to none.
