- pianotunaNomad IIIDo you have an outdoor shower? If so, make sure the taps are turned off.
- wrgrs50sExplorerCheck the bypass valves on the water heater. If they are not in the correct position it will cause the same problem.
- FLY_4_FUNExplorerim betting your winterizing valves are still in the "winterize" setting. This means your hot/cold are mixing vs getting only hot water. Get access to the tank and ensure the top and bottom valves are open and the interconnect valve is closed.
Daryll - LwiddisExplorer IICheck with your dealer. Next time....shake out in your driveway before taking the family out...just as you don’t cook something new for company.
- SidecarFlipExplorer IIII'll put my bet on the outside shower not being turned off at the valves.
- j09789ExplorerIt's not the outside shower. I believe I saw all three valves open when I accessed the hot water heater from inside the RV. Will check that tomorrow. It's new (2018) and they did winterize it. It will be going in for warranty work Wednesday anyway. Thanks for the suggestions, I'm told that the sensor could be bad too.
- Itching2goExplorer IIWhat kind of HW Heater is it? I have an Atwood, 10 gallon, with a mixer on the outlet side. The HW heater is designed to heat the water far above safe temperatures (180 degrees, I believe), and cold water is mixed in at the back of the heater to bring it down to around 120 degrees delivered to the faucets. Net result is the equivalent of a 16 gallon tank. Works great, unless the mixer gets plugged which is what happened with us. In that situation, the symptoms are exactly what you describe as your problem. Water starts out hot, but cools quickly. If you don't have that type of HW heater, I agree with the others that your most likely problem is an open faucet somewhere... most commonly the inside or outside shower. Good luck.
- j09789ExplorerIt was the by-pass valve! One of the technicians forgot to turn it off when it was being winterized/serviced before we picked it up. Figured it out the day before I took it in for punch list items.
