TST 507

I just received my TST 507(non flow thru) and the directions say to set the psi high and low, the tire inflation is 80psi per the FW sticker, so what should the high and low be? Also the temp high and low?
NOTE: This is for the FW (80 psi)not the truck tires.
  • TST sales to leave the temp setting on the preset 158 degrees which I did. We also get the same issue as Larry and I've done the same as he did. I had gone in a day from 300' elevation to over 5000'. Checked them manually that morning and they were fine but got a warning which I had a hard time believing and decided to let the tires warm up and see. I waited about 5 miles plugged it in and no warning.

Shouldn't your air pressure be at the correct reading when you first start out? Surely you're not starting out low and letting the heat buildup get the pressure to the correct reading. Bad idea. I start out with the tire pressure set where I want it to be and allow for heat and pressure buildup. I plug my monitor in while I'm preparing for departure. That gives the tire sensors time to communicate with the monitor before setting out.

I run 105 psi and start out with the pressure at 105 psi. The low pressure warning is at 90 psi.

That is also where mine are set...do the temp settings the same, 10 under and 20 over.

  • I have the 507 non-flow through system as well. I set my high pressure at 25 psi above rated and 10 psi below rated. This has worked well for me. I use these same setting for both my 80 psi rated TV tires and my 110 psi rated tires on my 5'er.
  • 10% for the low and 20% for the high, and I left the temp. at the default.
  • I think it is on their website that says to set 20% on the high end and 10% on the low end. There is no low temperature setting. They recommend leaving the high temp set as at came from them. I think that is 158F per Michelin recommendations.
  • Ford uses 65 psi as it's low pressure alarm point, maybe 95 for the high
  • You'll find that it's a trial and error process as you want your alarms set slightly outside your normal operating range. For instance, I run the Goodyear G114 tires on our 5th wheel at 120 PSIG cold. I have to run the high pressure alarm at 145 PSIG to avoid nuisance alarms during Interstate driving in Texas summer conditions as I will routinely see hot inflation pressures of 138-142 PSIG. On the other hand, the truck's tires don't seem to gain over 5 PSIG or so from their 65 PSIG cold inflation pressure.

I think I set the low pressure alarm at 10-15% or so below the cold inflation pressure. That's the one you're really interested in, of course.

TST recommends leaving the high temperature alarm at its default setting (~157 degF, IIRC), so I did. Their rationale for this temperature alarm setting is they claim to have talked to tire manufacturers who state that no thermal damage should occur below this temperature. To the best of my knowledge, there's no low tire temperature alarm - why would there be?
