Valve Stuck Open

So I was dumping my black water tank this morning. Everything was fine until I tried to close the valve. It was stuck solid in the open position. Would not budge a bit. I tried spraying a little WD40 into the cable but it didn't help at all. Ran out of time and had to leave it that way, but it'll still be there next weekend. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on where I should look? It's a 2012 Cedar Creek 36B4.

agree .... the defective cable/valve needs to be replaced .... that said, one of the first mods we make to a new camper is to super glue a Valterra T58 Twist-On Waste Valve in place .... should other valves fail, it serves as a good last ditch device to prevent a spill .... also, there is a dip somewhere in one of the lines that runs from our gray tank to the outlet .... having one of these valves in place keeps me from getting a handful when I remove the end cap ....
  • A great time to add a valve were you connect your slinky hose. It serves multiple purposes. One, it's and extra shut off valve that will keep all the bad stuff in place in case one of the shut off valves leak or gets frozen. Second, it can allow you to balance your tanks if one fills up way before the others this can buy you an extra day or two before you have to dump.

  • Happy is correct. A few of mine only lasted a year. Replace the valve and maybe the cable.
  • Time to drop the underbelly, or cut into it, starting where the valve handle is attached to the frame.
