Weber Q

I want to use the quick connect on the FW. I bought a hose but the fitting is for the regulator and I know you have to remove the regulator on the grill because it is already done for the 30# bottles, Do they make a fitting to go into the grill looks like it's about 3/8" fitting

  • Find the best and easiest info on YouTube. Search the term "convert q1200". 2 videos, mine and someone else's better one. Pics and part lists with sources. I did my grill so I can switch back and forth between bottle or hose. The removed Q regulator gets its own quick connects.

On the burner side it is 1/8" and most standard hose is 1/4" You probably are looking for a 1/8" to 1/4" if you are doing the same setup as me. You can get it at the gas fittings section of Lowes.

I did a detailed write up on this:

In your write-up all went well until the last paragraph.

"To create any other hoses for an external 20lb tank or for the throwaway tanks, all you need to do is get a hose of the correct length that has the right end for the type of tank you want to use, and a 1/4? threaded end on the other end. All you have to do is add a 1/4? female quick release and you can swap between RV, 20lb or Green throwaway."

Where is the regulator in this set-up?

Thanks for pointing that out. I may not have been clear that you would have to save the old regulator that you took off the Weber and it would have to be part of the hose config ie quick release to regulator to hose. When done in that order, you have just the quick release and regulator for the throw away, but if you want to use a 20# you just add the hose into the equation and there is no need for a separate setup for throwaway vs 20#

  • Get the adapter hose from Lowes. I use my 1200 with a standard propane grill tank.

Could I assume your weber Q is the model 1200? Is your grill set-up to accept the screw-on green propane containers? I have the model
1200 grill and it can only be used with disposable cylinders.
Unless I'm wrong. If Iam, I stand corrected. Although, I like using the disposable cylinders because otherwise I'm tethered to a rubber hose from my camper. Now I can set the grill anywhere I want.
    Just my thoughts.

I use an adapter hose that goes into where the bottle would screw into and the other end screws into my 2 gallon tank.
