Weekend Warrior FS2500 water tank repair

Hi guys
I have a 2007 weekend warrior superlite 2500 and the fresh water tank is cracked in a corner near the top
I can see the previous owner put epoxy on it and it's leaking
It's only holding a bout a third of its capacity and it's not enough for more than a day or two
I'm guessing I need to drop the tank to try to fix it or replace it
What's involved?
I can see there is some angle iron brace holding it up
Is there something I need to do before loosening that up and dropping it down?
Thanks really appreciate it!
  • I had to pull my tank. Flip it on an end. Pour some water in it, not fill it all the way up, but enough to find the leak. Marked it. Emptied it. Then let it sit for a few days in the sun to let the water evaporate out of it. Finally used the heat gun to seal it.

I've used other stuff on my spa at home that was like an epoxy. Had a few tiny leaks in the pvc jet plumbing. I put the stuff on wet, under pressure from the jets. It's held for 4 years so far.

Thanks I can't get to all the crack unless I drop it down a few inches
    714? you aren't far
    Are they pricey?

No not pricey, you can check around your area.If your repairing this tank you want to make sure the area is completely dry if your doing the repair. You should just remove the tank and look for other cracks.

  • Drain the water disconnect all water lines it well take about 45 minutes to get it done, it'll take longer just collecting the tools you need. On both ends of the angle iron there two bolts. If you need to replace the tank call 714 259-1385

I'll try that water weld stuff thanks
Is there a lot of stuff I have to disconnect to drop the tank down?

If you can see the crack just apply it on the outside. You don't have to do it on the inside for it to work.

I used it to fix a water fountain and I applied it on the outside stopped the leak immediately and its permanent.

This stuff is so easy to use and still amazes me how well it works. Sandable, paintable, etc. I've used it several times.

Best feature is you can apply it in wet areas so you won't have to pull your tank. Heck it claims you can apply it 'under' water!

This will work on Weekend Warrior tanks. It worked on my buddies FS2600.
  • Depends on what the tank is made of. ABS can be fixed using an ABS type glue. However, most RV tanks are LDPE or HDPE (in either case Polyethylene) - those cannot be fixed with a chemical glue. Polyethylene tanks require plastic welding to permanently fix. I had a similar issue with a polyethylene water tank that sprung a leak where it rested on angle iron in my RV. I dropped the tank, pulled out a heat gun, cut up an empty plastic bleach bottle (poly), heated the surface of the tank (which was probably enough to repair the crack) and laid strips of the plastic bottle over the crack - melting it into the tank. I went a step further and used eternabond tape along the edge that rested on angle iron as a way to "pad" where the tank rested on the angle iron.
