Why are rear kitchens not so popular?

Our 1st 5er had a rear kitchen. Got tired of broken wine glasses and things tossed around in the cabinets. Chris

So, have things changed for you when you changed floor plans?

Yup...lot of 'bounce' in the rear and therefore rear kitchen floor plans not that popular.

"Me Again" pretty much said it all...rear kitchen models are somewhat known for leaving bits of broken or cracked crockery, food falling out of the refrigerator, broken bottles of pickles, etc. Sort of what the character played by Lucille Ball in the movie "Long, Long Trailer" experienced first hand!

You'll hear from the actual owners of RKM trailers deny this...but when they say the smell of pickles inside their trailers is merely their kitty litter box...you'll note they don't even own a cat!

I beg to differ. I have a rear kitchen and never had a broken dish, glass or bowel. Although I don't eat pickles, not once has anything fallen out of the refrigerator and the cabinets are not trashed. Maybe driver error?

No broken bowels huh....lol....good thing.

I see....they sure do have a lot of counter space!

We have had two RK's and we have not wanted anything different. More windows with the kitchen not in the middle.

And I'm sorry if I'm laughing at your expense, but you hafta admit, it's pretty funny!....

I have always steered away from RK units because I have found that the rear of my TT tosses everything worse than anywhere else. The rear takes more bucking than the front, even though logically it ought to be the same. I always have to open the bathroom cabinets carefully to avoid an avalanche of stuff. 5th wheel would be the same.

My first choice for layout is mid-kitchen, rear bath, front bedroom. My recently purchased TT has all that.

For some odd reason, I have always had an uneasy feeling about rear bedrooms. Reason being, when I'm pulling into a rest stop at O Dark Thirty to bag a few ZZ's, I have always had a fear of somebody driving into the back of my TT with me in it. Not sure why, but I have this little phobia.
