winnebago 5th wheel quality

Thanks all for the replies. Looks like the trailers are not made up to the quality of the motorhomes at least on the smaller trailers. Thanks to all for the responses

The really sad thing is the one shown in trailer life comes with E tires. Chicom no doubt.

The full article in the magazine really showed a lack of proper engineering, more than a lack of quality control. However, the engineering faults were significant and numerous.

I was looking at one at the Portland rv show, and though they were cheaply built. Wasn't impressed with them at all.

I can only speak of my experience and of my opinions.

In Jan 2012 we bought a Winnie Raven. In Aug 2013 we traded it in for a Heartland Big Country. All I can say is I would not recommend them. One issue after another and no support from the dealer. We did find one guy in Winnie that helped us, he is no longer there. He was so frustrated at the lack of support from the dealers to the mfg. The last straw was when both slides broke. They were out and would not go back in and the manual part did not work. We hired someone to come out, do some work and re-weld. Run don't walk away from them. Too many issues, no support and the QA was a joke. I know I am not alone. I have talked to a few people who had similar issues and traded in their unit for another brand.

I have a 2011 Sunset Creek. The trailer is a highline glass panel sided unit. I had the classic water take fell out problem. The interior trim had a too good of quality problem. They ran the trim strips dead into the corners. When thermal expansion happen the strips would pop off. I cut the corners and silicone the corner. The trailer also used aviation style screw clamps on the water service connections. The clamps can't compress the thin wall hose. I changed them all to fuel injection high pressure hose clamps. The PD inverter didn't have the charge wizard installed. No way could the battery ever charge. Overall the trailer is one of the strongest construction units I have ever owned. The Crane glass panel construction adds diagonal strength better than most other types. I would recommend any of the high end Winnebago towables.

We have a 2013 Winn Lite 5. So far we are happy with it but I was disappointed in quality control from factory. Unit did need alot of small repairs like falling trim scratched cabinets and such but in fairness to Winnebago my dealer said that the unit was on display at a trade show. That could explain some of the interior issues. LOOK AT TIRES. they come with crappy chinese tires and I blew one with less than 2K on rig.

Yes I read the article in trailer life, at least what is on trailer life.com, thank you that is why I am asking although the destination. Looks splendid the latitude might be more in our price range. ? It is amazing for those of us just getting into rv ing the wealth of knowledge out here on rv.net. thanks for the answers.

I read the TrailerLife article on the new 5er. I was hoping it would be a bit more sturdy as in a bigger frame for it's length.

Hopefully the workmanship is top quality. The Vectra MH we looked at was very nice.

I would assume that design, parts, workmanship would be largely the same as the firm's that they bought out. possibly upgraded slightly?
