First off, you can buy c2c or tt memberships for next to nothing from several resellers. Second, unless you plan to spend lots of days in their parks, your costs will be higher than private parks. Third, these are nothing more than a time share, and not very good one at that. There are many pages of posts on this subject, not much of it complimentary

yes i am aware of the resale market.. actually saw a post on craigslist about a 1000 trails one for sale which started the interest.

I have seen the rants but have to believe with so many members there must be more satisfied people than unhappy.. the unhappy ones post more often.

Unless you are a full timer, it is not a good deal. Since it is a lifetime membership you really have to join when you are young to get the full benefits. If you don't make your membership or maintenance payment on time you risk being sued or losing all that you have paid into it. If the time share company goes bankrupt, you may lose everything that you have paid into it.

I recently attended a Coast to Coast presentation. I survived the 2 hour presentation and just said no. I would recommend Passport America over Thousand Trails or Coast to Coast.

I'd be asking why so many are trying to sell their membership if it's "better than sliced bread". Gotta be a reason. I've also heard that if you want out for any reason(health issues of spouse, not using it enough, etc) it's next to impossible to get out of contract. Unless you are full-timers it doesn't look like a good deal. I'm with Passport America and like it. Good luck

A little about TT.

Yes, you can buy a resale, but most of the time, it will only give you access to the parks that were in the system when the original contract was purchased. It usually will not include any future parks Equity Life Style may purchase, or ones they purchased after the original contract was signed. To upgrade is as much as you would have paid to get a new contract.

If you plan on getting a resale, get the membership # and call ELS directly to see what is included. There are so many different memberships out there, and all of them differ.

Some are park to park, with no time out of the system, some are 120 advance reservations, etc.

TT can be a good deal if you plan on going park to park, which is what a lot of the members do.

The annual dues are not frozen until you are 65, and will increase yearly after your purchase.

The resale options do not include the RPI park option. That is something you have the option of purchasing separately for $159 a year. That gives you RPI Parks for $10 a night. So, that is an additional cost above and beyond the original fee.

Encore parks are $20 a night, and sometimes not included in the older, resale memberships.

I would suggest you personally go drive through some TT parks, if there any by you. We have checked out several of them in the Oregon, Washington area. A good portion of them do not have full hookups, and are pretty tight spots, with little satellite and cell service capability.

Another bad thing, is a good portion of the prime spots are taken by " annual resident " campers.

Check the rvonthego website for some park names, and check the reviews on rvparkreviews.com before you make any decisions.

It is not something you should walk into blindly. It is a 38 page contract, and as others have stated, they will attach your assets for non payment.

We have been members of TT for over 34 years. It is the best out there. We have stayed at TT Parks ever night since the 1st of July, all along the Oregon and Wa Coast. No cost whatsoever other than my yearly $275 dues. Look into a zone membership. They are hard to beat. I totally rec TT

WE bought a RESALE 'home park' that had affiliation with C2C (you can NOT just buy C2C you have to have a home park and the home park designation determines which C2C program Classic/7 day or Deluxe-Premiere/14 day)

So we buy this 'Home park' membership (Deluxe) with C2C/RPI and AOR affiliate camping programs for a Total 1st year cost of $950.
That includes 1st yr. membership dues for 'Home Park' (Frozen at %59/yr), C2C/$129, RPI/$129 and AOR/$99 plus transfer fees and initial sign up charge.

Affiliate CGs site fees were $10/$15 night.......vs $35/50 +

2nd yr we dropped RPI and AOR.....RPI was mainly duplicate affiliated CGs and AOR was limited. Plus C2C was easier to use---ALL on-line.
2nd yr costs 'Home Park'/$59 and C2C/$129

We could stay up to 14 nights at C2C Deluxe affiliate CGs and 7 nights at the ones that were Classic

Being FT it drastically helped control CG nightly fees.
It was NOT a one all tool...........it was part of several ways.
COE, State/National, City Parks, Fairgrounds, Boondocking even PassPort America.

Also 'weekly' rates. (Monthly are even cheaper than daily rates but we traveled not parked)

We even stayed in Thousand Trail CG using C2C

RESALE........Full Time YES it can work.
As part of an overall plan.

if i understand you u are saying the classic membership is 7 days, is that 7 days a month or 7 days a year? and at what cost?

I talked to one reseller that had a CG membership in the classic program and there were no "free days."

WOW 34 yrs.. so it must not be all that bad, :) I have looked at the zone maps.. in reading on one couples blog they mentioned it was possible to exchange zones once a year.. they bought two zones getting a deal for like $545 for both.

have you done the exchange of zones or know if it possible..

what is the amount of night you can stay at a place, i was reading 14, then out for 7 etc. if you stay over 14 was their a cost?

I got a free one year zone membership for TT from the dealer with the purchase of my trailer. Have not visited a site yet.. trying to soon. I don't think it's the "full zone membership" I got, because I only get 30 days total, over the year period. However, according to the website and what I've read, if I want more than the 30 days, it's $3 per night.

20 years ago, or so, my Dad bought into TT. I thought he had to pay something like 10K plus some annual maintenance fee for a lifetime membership. I could be totally wrong on the 10K. Seemed crazy whatever it was at the time. Visited a few parks with him out west, they were really nice. Of course, that was a long time ago.

If the parks are nice and the annual zone membership is only $275 a year, I may buy into it after the year. Even if it is 30 days for $275, that's less than $10 per day.

I hope to (a) use my whole 30 days and (b) hope it's worth it.
