assistance through our telephone dispatch center within 24 hours
of the disablement. If you make any request for your vehicle to
be taken to a location other than the nearest professional service
center, including your home, the mileage fee (for the distance
in excess of the nearest licensed repair center) will be at your
expense.
If you request to be towed to a location other than the nearest
professional service center, as described above, you will not be
entitled to any additional towing services for the same disablement.
A request for a tow to your home would also require additional
payment if that distance exceeds the distance to the nearest
professional service center.
The mileage fees for any excess mileage and the fees for additional
towing services will be determined and billed directly by
the independent service provider at the time of the disablement,
and all payment of that additional mileage fee or additional
towing service will be paid by the member directly to the service
provider.
Note that service providers and facilities referred to members

Platinum will tow you to the nearest qualified repair facility (unlimited mileage).

Platinum + adds the 100 miles to anywhere of your choosing.

You said they were having a hard time finding someone to tow you. I can only guess that is the reason they asked you to drive the 20 miles. Personally I would of told them we were broke down and that the truck couldn't be moved.

As far as the location to where they want to tow you, depends on the coverage you have. Unless you have Platinum +, they will only tow you to the nearest qualified repair shop. Not necessarily a dealership or a place of your choosing. If you had the Platinum +, then you could be towed anywhere up to 100 miles.

AAA has coverage for motor homes.
I'm not sure if it covers trailers.
I had a lot of experience using their service when we owned a Bluebird.

If you feel it was putting you in danger to drive 20 miles down the road, then how much better is it to drive 80 miles or even 156?

My expectations for GSRA is not to tell us to put us in a potentially dangerous situation by telling us to drive our truck. Two previous times we called it was a non issue and they towed us where we needed to go. In fact once it wasn't even to the nearest repair facility. So we were shocked when this time it was different.
Now we may try driving our truck to either Susanville Ca about 80 miles from where we are or Reno Nv about 156 miles. Hopefully we wont have any problems.

X2 Some posters, not referring to this one, seem to expect Good Sam to fix whatever goes wrong, in ten minutes or less, for free, and whether the issue is covered by Good Sam or not.
