Good Sam Dispatch Giving Out Different Information.
After being sold on the Good Sam Roadside service by the sales gal at Camping world that anything can be towed, and also verifying this on the disclosure paper, we purchased the assistance, hoping we would never use the service.
I called the phone number on the card and explained to them my utility trailer was sitting in the middle of an intersection and that the hitch broke completely off. She asked me what was in the trailer, and I told her burnable pellets, she then said that's not RV related and they couldn't help me. I was able to drag the trailer out of the intersection and I then proceeded to haul the pellets out of the trailer to the suburban and to my house which was 1/2 mile away. I then decided to call them back, he said it was covered, I said great, he then said he needs to ask an onsite repair guy if they should tow it or send me a repair guy. He assured me that sending a tech was the way to go but I would have to pay for any repairs the guy would charge me upon arriving. I said could you please tow it home its only a 1/2 mile away and this is going to need quite a bit of repairs that I don't want done on the side of the street at 6:00pm Friday night. He then explained that that is the way they do things and I could pay for a tow truck myself(seriously?). He also suggested waiting till the morning to have them come out. I declined the service and got the trailer home myself. I called back today at 8:47AM and the gal explained to me that I needed something RV related in the utility trailer in order for it to be covered. So pellets does not meet that requirement. I don't think Good Sam is going to work out for me because I don't want to be told to sit on the freeway while some guy fixes my trailer and charges me for that(tire change is ok). I mostly fix everything myself and just need a tow. What if I just want it towed and deal with the problem OFF the freeway? Has anyone had some experience with the mobile repair vs towing the vehicle with Good Sam that make this service a good choice? Is this true about having something RV related in the utility trailer to get towed? Will they tow my daughters car home or does there has to be something RV related in the car? I also remember seeing a comparison with AAA insurance and how their program was superior, but I am questioning that now.
