Good Sam ER Service

Yesterday we called Good Sam ERS to have the DW car towed to Service
Place which was 2 miles away. ERS called a Tow Service which was 20 miles away even tho we could see a Tow Company across the street. Took the Tow Co over 3 hours to get there as they kept saying they were busy or would be there in 20 min. He did a good job once he showed up. My DW made 16 calls on her cell phone back to GSERS and Tow Co plus the repair place and ran her phone down. She was not a "Happy Camper" . This was outside Sac Ca in the Surburbs, lot of business. On a good note 5 Guys stopped and asked if she needed help.
  • Thank you for the post samsontdog. I apologize for the delay your wife experienced when she requested service. Our first concern when providing service is our member's safety and not only the well being of the member but also of their vehicle(s). The primary reason for using a network is that we know the provider is bonded and insured. Sometimes the closest provider is not in our network or may be unavailable at the time to provide service. As previously stated by another poster we strive every day to be a zero defect operation. I would be more than happy to review the request for service with you. If so please send me a private message with your Good Sam information, phone number and the best time to reach you and I will contact you on Monday. Thank you, Zach
  • samsontdog, I can certainly appreciate your frustration. I've recently experienced a similar, but not as extended, issue. I've spoke with the GSRA administrator, who was very cordial and assured me that their goal was to eventually have a 100% satisfied public. Certainly an unattainable, but nevertheless, a lofty goal. I honestly believe that they are really trying. Posts like yours, mine, and others who have had similar issues are important to them. They do absolutely monitor this site. I hope that you never need them again. Safe, happy, and uneventful RVing to you and yours.
  • I understand your frustration, as my request for a tire change took longer than needed because closer repair facilities were not utilized. HOWEVER: I really do not wish to pay much more than I already pay for emergency roadside service. I understand that GoodSam, CoachNet and AAA along with all the less known ERS providers must contract with service facilities. They pay less, but they offer a contracted area of service.
Guess if you want speed, you call the guy across the street, but if you want the ERS (insurance) to pay you call and wait. It is the same with prescriptions...you want it fast, go to the friendly local guy, but if you want it free or for less, go mail-order or to the contracted chain.
Glad you got back on the road safely.
Happy Trails, and may you never need to use ERS in the future.
  • The place across the street may not been part of the network or refused the call.
Proximity with any roadside assistance program is not a factor. Who has proper equipment, who is reputable and who will give them a good price.
