I am glad to see that Good Sam wants to expedite the claims and it is everyone's advantage to do so. I did call Good Sam first and they did not advise or provide me a list of "preferred" repair facilities to chose from. All they said was that I should contact one and they should call for approval. I went to the office where I am staying and they provide me with a mobile service that others have had good luck with. I called the repair folks and they claimed to have worked with Good Sam and other insurance companies a lot and they would take care contacting and getting approval from Good Sam. I provided my insurance policy number and phone number that I had to them. As it turns out there are many numbers available to call for a claim because evidently there are many underwriters for Good Sam. I got my policy from Camping World that claims to be Good Sam, but it is not the same as if I purchased the policy directly from Good Sam. Evidently my underwriter is Assurant Insurance and is some kind of affiliate or underwriter for Good Sam.
My suggest would be for Good Sam to provide one number to call for a claim that is valid for the entire US and not make the customer play dial a prayer to get the correct person to talk to. Good Sam should be able to work that out shielding the customer from dial a prayer.
I am provide my experience and suggestion is good faith and hope it is taken as that.

I don't have any specifics in this particular claim, but generally when I've looked into delays in getting approvals through our claims administrator, I find that the repair facility (mobile repair service in this case)can't provide the administrator with everything that they need to approve the claim. Usually it is the final prices on back-ordered parts. We have no motivation to drag approvals out, it just creates customer service issues and drives up our costs of handling a claim.

No, the mobile repair service finally found some one in the Good Sam food chain that got approval after several phone calls working their way up the chain. When I first called Good Sam they were helpful and gave me hope that a quick repair would happen and that the service organization needed to call for approval.
I then called a mobile service organization and informed them that I had Good Sam insurance and they came out an got my policy number, VIN, and took several photos and diagnosed the problem to be a bad awning motor.
The service folks went away telling me they needed approval and would return with the part in a couple of days. After waiting over a week I called to get status and they said they were still waiting for Good Sam approval. After 12 days and several phone calls of "getting the run-around" they finally got the approval.
I don't know if this is typical of the RV insurance industry, but if it is there is a lack of concern towards the customer and maybe completion is the way to solve this lack of response. My auto insurance approval and payment cycle is very responsive and maybe Good Sam should learn from them.

My service person just called me and said they finally got approval and are now ordering the parts which should be here is a few days. The question is why does it take so long and several phone calls from my mobile service (who does a lot of repair for Good Sam) to get approval? I would think approval or disapproval would take a couple of days if not the same day at most. It is a good thing my awning was not open with a bad motor or the wind would have blown it a way causing more damage waiting for Good Sam to approve.

Good Sam extended warranty thru camping world is a complicated mess that creates a lot of delays for getting either an approval for a repair or reimbursement. I don't know if other insurance companies are any better, but my experience with Camping World Good Sam has not been good and in fact maddening.
My latest experience is to get an awning motor replaced by a reputable mobile service organization that deals with Good Sam and other insurance agencies. They have been trying for 2 weeks to get approval and informed me that they are getting the run around. Mean while I am roasting in the sun without awnings. All we can do is keep going up the management ladder until someone will help with the approval process. Gawd what a mess :-(

I have had a warranty with GS for the past three years, but just recently canceled due to paying out a lot more than they have paid for any repairs. $2000 a year for 3 years = $6000...3 claims paid for under $1800. $4200 in their pocket! Now I put $175 a month in a repair savings acct. just for the rv!
