interesting - new level - who's paying ?

How does evryone feel about the new levels of membership?

I for one feel a little let down Good Sam Club. On on hand they did a good job of improving some of the benefits for elite members, but since I purchased my RV from a CW in 2011 I do not qualify according to eveything I have read so far. Do you?

Now as my renewal comes up I seem to have a delima, new members (or ones that buy a new camper) get 3 years of free membership at an enhanced benefit level while I get a bill to renew a membership that will not provide the benefits that an elite or life member (can do this) get.
In addition I also am a Good Sam roadside member which will need to be renewed, but that seems to have no benefit relationship to the base membership.

Do you think that Good Sam is now trying to gain new members by having the old members pay the carrying costs? Seems to me that GS should be giving members that hold multiple items (roadside, or Ins) the benefits not ones who buy new campers?
Undecided on whether I renew in June, what would you do?

The Pilot/FlyingJ RV rewards card is being phased out. Do a forum search for 'swipe and save'. There have been lots of threads about the new card.

Funny thing is when I asked about it at a Flying J, the sales manager assured me that the Swipe and Save was free and was the same as the Flying J rewards card. I informed them that they should call for themselves, the Swipe and Save requires purchasing membership in Good Sam.

  • The Elite membership is a sales tool (marketing gimmick). There is no reason for a regular member to feel slighted.

If you want Elite status, buy another RV. The Elite membership is meaningless to me and I have no desire to acquire that status.

Being a life member is easy, just open your wallet, pony up, and pay the price.
  • Hello 365SQA and WBWOOD,

Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, the Elite membership level is provided to those who purchase a new or used RV at Camping World. Without that purchase, you have access to the Lifetime, Deluxe or Classic memberships. The Deluxe and Classic go for $25 a year right now. If you enroll as a first time member, you stay Classic for 1 year until you renew and then you become Deluxe at which point you stay Deluxe unless you purchase an RV or Lifetime membership.

The Elite membership is given free of charge as a bonus provided by Camping World for your purchase of an RV. This membership offers additional fuel discounts, as well as free access to the concierge services for trip routing, membership questions, help in finding a campground, dump stations, and lots more. You also receive free 1 year magazine subscriptions, additional discounts at Camping World, the free 22 pt safety inspection, a free travel guide, and free accidental death and dismemberment coverage up to $10,000 that you can activate by calling our partner who handles that at 800-782-7267. These are just a few of the benefits you access as an Elite member.

The Classic and Deluxe memberships offer you free trip routing and campground finder services online, 10% off at any Good Sam Park, discounts at Camping World, access to Smile and Save discounts online, discounts on our Rallies and lots more. You can view the full benefits at www.goodsamclub.com by logging in and clicking on the benefits tab toward the top left hand side.

I would recommend checking that out, and let us know if you have any other questions! Thank you and have a great day!

  • You don't get very much more for the Elite membership. New members and those that get the Elite membership are two different things. New members are just new members. Elite members spent thousands of dollars to purchase their rvs. Thus they are given the membership free. I bought an rv in 2010, but did not get a membership to good Sam. I bought a years membership afterwards and then purchased a life membership. Last year, we traded in the TT and bought a class c. They had the Elite membership going on and automatically switched us to elite membership from the life membership. After 3 years it reverts back. The only added benefit I see is I get a free 22 point inspection yearly (for the 3 years).

And who is paying for that elite membership is the people who are buying the rv. It's not costing the other members anything. It's just a marketing ploy to entice people to buy from hem.
