Is not "Lock Out" covered under the basic coverage???

Yesterday my daughter calls from 2oo miles away (she was at the oregon coast and we live in Central Oregon) to tell us she locked her keys in the car. I had to remind her that she was covered by "Good Sam" roadside assistance.

She called G.S.dispatch for assistance and I told her to call me if there were any problems and also to call when she was in her car and on her way.

A short amount of time passed and she called to say everything went well and the "lock out" service tech arrived and used a pump to open the door enough to reach in and pop the electric lock and presto, door was open and tech was on his way.(No mention of any extra charges)

Today I received a call from a gentleman who said he was from Good Sam and wanted a credit or debit card number for I believe was $69 for the unlocking of a vehicle yesterday.I asked him for an explanation of the charges and he could not.

I told him that was a covered service with my membership and was not giving a debit or credit card number. (I thought it might be a scam) and I hung up on him.

(copied from benefit explanation)
LOST KEY/LOCK OUT SERVICE
We will pay for a locksmith to come to your location and gain entrance into your vehicle. Member is responsible for payment for all additional labor, as well as all parts, including the cost of replacement keys.

I then called G.S. customer "no" service to let them know someone might be scamming members for trying to collect money for a service that is covered by there roadside service plan.
The gal put me on hold to check with her supervisor and came back to tell me that there might be an extra charge. I explained to her the above details and told her we were going back to AAA.
Good Bye Good Sam!!!

  • My manual lock is supposed to unlock when I get out. It didn't and my keys were dangling from the steering column. Good Sam found a locksmith in Las Cruces NM and in thirty minutes he handed me my keys. I never got another call except to make sure all was well.

Yes, the "rapid response team" and "Roadside Guy" is on it. But why do these things keep happening? Putting out the fires without ever getting to the source of ignition is pointless. And that is what Good Sam/Camping World does again and again and again and again.....

What do you mean why does it keep happening, There are isolated cases of various instances, if the op would have asked to speak to a supervisor, and had a case opened it would have been resolved, he said he hung up. So many people don't even give people the chance to correct it. Mistakes don't make a company a bad company, not fixing mistakes cause them to be a bad company. To get mad about getting a single phone call is ignorantly silly. He wasn't even billed yet, and you guys are on about how they just let everyone down. what bs.

  • Sounds to me like you should give good sam a shot at finding out the issue :)
  • Thanks everyone for the posts. This is absolutely a covered service, and I do not understand what went wrong. As Rudy asked, if you can send us a private message, we can investigate, pull call recordings, and discover what is going on.

I apologize for the lack of service but if you allow me, we will get to the bottom of it.

    Thanks in advance.
