Slide out arm "slide locks"

I have a 14 year old Carefree Omega I slide topper on my motorhome, on which the awning hardware and fabric was recently destroyed/damaged in a windstorm. This is the type of slide topper that pulls on down over the windows to make a window awning. It is no longer manufactured by Carefree, and the "slide locks" are not available from Carefree, but the replacement fabric is available.

Does anyone have any idea where I might find these slide out arm locks??

I really do not want to replace the entire awning, but the awning can not be used (locked into its upright/travel) position with out these locks.

Thanks for any ideas, or suggestions how I might even be able to use this awning (lock the arms for travel) if I can't find the replacement slide locks.
  • I have the same type awning over the slide. I experienced fabric rot where it attaches to the coach, and discovered only the first 12 to 14 inches was rotten. I cut this portion off, sewed a new pocket for the plastic rod, and remounted. It no longer pulls down to shade the side windows, but works great to still cover the slide top. You may want to consider installing enough fabric to allow covering the slide top without covering the side windows.

  • Carefree discontinued that Omega over 10 years ago due to problems and stopped parts also. NOBODY has the arms or the locks anymore. Doug
  • I use black plastic tieraps to hold my arms in. I don't use the window awning feature. I would use tieraps that have a "release lever" in them so they are reusable
