How are you losing 3 cents? It's simple. If you use a swipe and save card, you will only get 3 cents off per gallon. If you use the RV plus charge card, you get 6 cents off a gallon. They give you an additional 3 cents off to use their charge card and not your credit card. I did notice that at least on one of the 4 Flying J's I stopped at this past week that I noticed if you use a MasterCard, you are limited to $100. If you use visa, it's much more.

The benefit of the additional money off is based upon you using their product.

With the RV plus card, Flying J/GoodSam Club together offer 4 cent gas discount for GoodSam Club members and non stop filling. Pump does not shut off at certain limita and has to be restarted. Card, control number etc.
Needless to say both are big businesses and make decisions accordingly.
RV plus card,Flying J/GoodSam Club together also offer a 6 cent discount for GoodSam Life members and non stop filling.
RV plus card, Flying J/GoodSam Club together also offer a 7 cent discount and non stop fill ups. For members who purchase an RV from GoodSam/Camping World. This is an Elite member.
The RV plus card permits holders to swipe the RV plus card at the pump for the various discounts. The card is a Flying J credit card with provisions. 1- account must be paid in full each month or the card is blocked. 2- account must be paid via a checking account. Not a credit card.
I've inquired (Flying J)about not being able to use a credit card to pay the monthly invoice. Would be nice to get points etc. However It is the policy not to permit credit cards. For me I appreciated the discount. Profit margins must be slim with the discount and credit card use requires a fee. The 6 cent discount was a factor in my upgrading to Life member.
Now there is a new Life Member card that is swiped at the pump and permits members to then swipe their credit card making it like a normal credit card purchase with a 3 cent discount. It also eliminates the non stop fill up. IE: pump stops at a predetermined limit and the process is repeated etc.
Wow that was tough to put to words. Sorry it took so many.
Now,this part is a principle and not specific steps.
My point is this: someone is paying the fees for the use of a credit card.
Flying J is willing to give a 6 cent discount to GoodSam RVers but do not have to pay a credit card fee.
Now our club is offering a new LifeMember card with 3 cent discount instead of the 6 cent and allows credit card payment. This puts the member back to the credit card procedure of pumping to a predetermined limit and starting over and maybe over again.
To me there is a loss of 3 cents that has to pay the credit card fees but permits using a credit card.
There is a three cent discount instead of 6 cents. Why can't members swipe the new lifemember card then swipe their RV plus card (not a credit card)and keep the same monthly payment system but permit use of a credit card to pay invoice each month?
The 3 cents paid the credit card fees for the new LifeMember swipe card. Why can't it pay the credit card fee for the RVplus card?

Members don't have to do that if they want to continue with the 6 cent discount and pay monthly via direct deposit and not a credit card and have nonstop fill ups.?

Somehow I lost my first attempt at a reply. I think the non stop fill up is as significant perk with the RV+ card.
Paying at the pump and losing the 3 cents per gallon and the non stop fill up perk is REALLY significant.
The 3 cent loss is paying the fees for using a credit card. I appreciate that. If it's going to cost us 3 cents to use our credit cards, why not have GoodSams pay the 3 cents to flying J who inturn would pay the 3 cents to whoever GoodSams is paying for us to use credit cards. Then we can use our new life cards with nonstop fills and pay Flying J month by month as we do now but pay with our credit card. That would avoid the pay at the pump problem of having to deal with each credit card limits/policies and the stopping and restarting to fill up.
Please advise.











Pilot Flying J RV Plus Card
Yes. You will receive discounts for every gallon you fill. Also, there is no “single transaction” limit cut off like with credit/debit cards. The RV Plus Charge Card allows you to fill up as much as you need in a single swipe (up to the amount of credit you have available).

The rv plus card is a charge card. You do get a higher percentage of with the rv plus card. Life members bet 6 cents of unleaded and 8 cents off of diesel.

Whether you use your own credit card or the rv plus card as far as payment is a different conversation. Although you have to use the rv plus card as payment to get the higher discount. If you are an elite member, you get another penny off per gallon.

My Amex card gives me 3% off, my Chase Visa gives me 5% off during selected 3 month periods. Combining that with the S & S savings results in a higher cash back.
