We experienced a problem with our motorhome on the side of I-29 on Sunday afternoon, June 27th.I called the road service and gave information and they said they would call back in 20 minutes. After 45 minutes and no call we called again. No record of our first call. Chasnadra??? Said she would call us back. After 49 minutes we got a call back stating that neither of the two tow companies they have contracts with could tow us??? She recommended I call the State Police to see if they could influence the towing company. I called the first name the road service said they had contacted and they said they could help us in one hour.When the towing company arrived we called the road service for confirmation and they informed me that since I ???? Had called them it was my responsibility to pay them and to submit a bill for consideration??? After???.The road service provider provided me with NO service and basically failed to confirm they would even pay a bill.Questions??Road service left us stranded overnight on the side of a major interstate?Roadservice stated the towing company could not respond till the next day?Road service not willing to commit to a towing payment despite the fact I spoke to the same towing company they had contacted ??I had to pay the company direct or spend a night on the interstate??Good Sam road service was trying to convince me one month prior to this incident to sign up for a multiple year contract??Now I am thankful I decided to wait till the

Sounds so typical of road side service provided by Good Sam. My guess is that the Tow Service would not accept the rates paid by Good Sam so they declined to take the service call. Same reason Good Sam is probably trying to weasel out of paying for the service call that you instigated. In reading literally hundreds of comments on the various roadside services, I conclude that Coach-Net is likely the best.

Sorry, but CoachNet couldn't find a service provider for me in Washington on highway 101 on a weekday. Probably for the same reason, low payment schedule. None of the ERS networks, in my opinion, are worth much, but when they do help all is good. Just be ready to "find your own way home" when they bug out on you.JMHO

So if you where towed off at some point have you submitted the bill to Good Sam for reimbursement?That is the rule if you get the company you pay and submit for reimbursement.I am sorry Good Sam did not come through with a towing company for you. You have a right to be upset.Did the tow company tell you why they did not come when Good Sam called? Could it be the tow company knew they could get more money from you than from Good Sam directly? I wonder if the tow company is running some sort of scam. IT WOULD BE INTERESTING to see if others on here got the same deal from the tow company.Would you tell us what tow company it was.

That is just fine and dandy that you got your reimbursement. Did the GSRA rep tell you what the problem was?
Seems they are ok running around stomping out brush fires, but don't care that the barn is burning!

This is really good to know and the right thing for the company to have done. It does go a ways to alleviating some of the misgivings about the RS. Thanks for updating the story. It is the one common missing link in so many of these posts.

We wanted to update everyone. I spoke to a GSRS agent when we got home from vacation. He apologized and stated they would be in contact with their provider. he asked me to send the invoice for towing to him by email.The bill was $535.00
I spoke to the same agent the next day and he confirmed the invoice would be refunded to me and he offered me a year extension to my road service, but at the platinum level which covers towing for 100 miles and other extras.
Last week we received the new cards for the extended road service and today we received the cheque for the full amount of the towing. We are very satisfied with the results.

We have had an issue with coach net the last couple times we have contacted them for help. First time, I called them and was given a time frame of 1 1/2 hours. After the time was up, I called them back and was told that the tow company service declined the service. They called another service and then told me it would be an additional hour. 4 hours after break down, tow truck did finally show up. Same issue last night. I told them to forget the tow and we would tow it home (1 mile) with our medium duty truck ourselves. Why do we have roadside assistance if we have to find our own tow because the companies don't want to tow for Coach Net?

Just to update, we are still travelling and will not be home till the 14th of July at which time we will send in the claim for the towing. I have sent the information to the GSRS agent as per their request.
I will update you after.

Here we go again. It is clear that at the bottom of all of these problems is seemingly the same issue.

GSRSA will not share with its customers the details of how these contracts work (not including proprietary information of course)leaving us in the dark and often by the side of the road.

Many jump to the conclusion that it is price. That the tow company refuses based on the price GSE will pay. Yet this runs counter to every type of contract I am familiar with. The rates for differing levels of service are surely part of the contract that is agreed upon by the tow companies when they agree to participate in the GSRSA program. So what is truly the problem? Is it a lack of participating companies? Is it bad C2C relations? Is it slow payment causing the tow companies to say "we dont have the equipment available right now" even if they do?

Most of these problems share a common thread: Bad communications with GSRSA. Being told there is no one to tow you. Call for yourself.

Undoubtedly there are thousands of successful tows done every year by GSRSA. But those are not what concern me. It is this litany of the same type of problem over and over again. The company remains silent on the details and how they are addressing these problems leaving those of us sitting on the fence wondering.
