Update: To those who thought I went away, here's a bit of GSRA information update for the record:Run Away. Run Far Away. Good Sam Roadside Assistance provides excellent service...when THEY decide you need it. Not when you actually need it. Has NOTHING to to with your Emergency. Case in point: Apparently the GSRA service comes with an un-published policy that during "phase conditions" (words from the GSRA staff), they can cease all service calls across the Country...yes United States. This means that bad weather in ANY part of the Country will result in NO service to you, stuck on the side of the road. Sorry. This is the GSRA customer service policy, apparently. So, make sure to not have an Emergency situation when: it's raining hard in Seattle; there's a Tornado in Oklahoma; or, there's a snow storm in Boston....the list goes on and on and on. Please make sure to plan your "emergencies" accordingly and by all means, make sure they don't occur on a weekend. I was stranded for 5 days, YES 5 DAYS because weather in Tennessee and Massachusetts was bad. Sunny in my part of the Country. Too Bad for me; a "Phase Condition" (whatever the heck that is) was established so, too bad for me, GSRA customer. Oh, coincidentally I was told that the situation would "clear" by Monday! Really. How coincidental that the weather would clear when service providers are less costly. Run Away. Run FAR away.Thanks and have a great day.

All my emergencies happen on sunny, dry, warm, weekday mornings just after breakfast. Don't yours ?

I WANT A GOOD SAM REPRESENTATIVE TO EXPLAIN THIS "PHASE CONDITION" AND EXPLAIN IN AN OPEN FORUM WHAT HAPPENED IN THIS CASE.I bet they don't have the guts to do that!

My thought is if this were nationwide as the OP states, then why only 1 complaint covering that 5 day period? I would image more than 1 person calls in a 5 day period. I am going to guess the OP misunderstood, but then again if my rig broke down and the business I use to tow it said they cannot come out for 5 days, I would have probably went and found one myself. Now I want to hear the whole story, nit just one side.

Thank you for your posts. I would like to address your responses to and questions about the earlier post focused on “phase conditions.”
Good Sam Roadside Assistance does not have a process that can “…cease all service calls across the Country…” Bad weather in part of the country can temporarily limit service capabilities, but does not shut down Roadside Assistance efforts to deliver the required service, as soon as possible. This is how we operate to meet our Members’ needs..
As we always have, if we stumble on our service delivery, we will work with each member individually to make it right.

If you think the 10 people he persuades to go somewhere other than GSRA is going to hurt GS, you are dreaming. They will not miss him, them, or you. :p The only people that hate paying claims more than GS is the OP Ins. Co. If there is negligence anywhere they will try to get there money back. Instead of bashing CW on their own forum, I would be spending my time pumping the Ins. Co. to get compensated for my loss.

Ok Good Sam Care Team, your turn. My contract with GSRA is coming due. I never had to use it before but sure would like to see were this is going to go. We do a lot of traveling in the months to come and sure don't want to be stuck on the side of the road with some sort of hidden excuse. We are looking at other options but lean toward GSRA.

I can understand implementing a "phase condition" in a local area because of inclement weather but not nationwide. I feel GSRA's answer is still not complete. Just renewed for three years so a more complete answer would be appreciated.

Interesting response Mark. I'd suggest you listen to the MANY recorded messages in your office from my incident and the follow up responses. And let's assume your statement of "on rare occasions" is correct. I find it VERY interesting that your own people could commit to a Monday service appointment. I see, since the cost of sending out service providers is more costly on the weekend, it's easy to call a "phase condition" and save a few bucks....regardless of your customers needs. Please also explain why your people, if they're not sending out service providers, why they can't return promised calls, day after day after day????

Thanks for all the responses. You fellow RVr's are my friends and colleagues. I agree with all the posts, especially the issue of "what the heck does "phase condition" mean." I was told yesterday that because I was "in a safe condition" and that the "country was in a phase condition" that GSRA could not dispatch any providers....again, even though the weather was fine in my part of the Country. And yes, those who responded that I could have sought my own repair and/or repair service are correct. Very good point. However, the point of the discussion is: why did a service I'm paying for take 5 days to result in the service I'm paying for? Hindsight is always a good excuse or reason. Sure, had I known that a service I paid for was not going to provide the service I paid for, I would have done just that. Of course that said, why would I need the service if I could predict such "phase conditions"? I was also told that the "brochure" details the conditions by which payments are made. NOWHERE does it mention "Phase Conditions"! I have been offered a free year of service for for my troubles. I am out $1000 in deductible and my insurance company is out $3000 -$4000 in claims. And worse than all of that, I have now missed 3 camping trips because of this issue. Thank you GSRA for that. If I can keep 10-15 people from joining, I have achieved my goal.

That Tuesday morning after our 3 day weekend, my co-worker mentioned it to me as if it was odd someone would abandon a nice trailer on the side of the highway right there. My co-worker was driving from Albuquerque to El Paso that weekend in a Hyundai Elantra - He left Friday and came back Sunday. This incident with the OP Thursday Night and he didn't get service until Tuesday. I'd hardly think the circumstances I just described warrants a pegged B.S. meter, he's just frustrated!

Moreover, the scenario I just described hardly calls for a bad weather policy being enforced.

Anyway, I vouch for the validity of the story and it comes with a money back guarantee!

If this is true how is GSRA going to explain this to all of us with a concern, to our satisfaction. If its not true then POST ALL commucation w/OP not just pick & choose
