thank you all that posted

Hello All,
I have had my 5th wheel for a few years now. I signed up for a good sams discount card $25 (a year thing). So now I get all the wonderful junk mail. Yesterday I opened the envolope from them and I say it looked interesting. So I thought I might call them and see about getting a qoute. So it is Saturday and the wife and I was talking about it. We both love AAA and never ever had problems with them even on Highway 50 in Nevada when we were broke down. So I was going to post a question on the forum and found this sub category. Man I am really glad I did. I noticed every one fell back on AAA. So much for looking to save money. I will keep my AAA.good Sam's better get it together if they want my money. For now Good Sams no thank you.
  • My observation is AAA varies so much from area to area that if it is fine in your area, it may not work in another. Good Sam and CoachNet services are standard across the nation. For RVing stick with an RV service provider.

Folks usually do not post when all goes well, it is when it does not.
Read your AAA RV coverage terms and conditions. It will tell you that it is not available in all areas, as some AAA's so not offer it. If you are in an area that does not have AAA RV Available, you will end up finding someone on your own, paying out of pocket, and filling out a form for reimbursement.

I use to have AAA. Needed my TT towed out from a Forest Service road bout 12 miles off the Hiway. They told me they didn't leave the asphalt to tow so I had to arrange my own tow. Told them what they could do with their membership & card. Made em refund my money. That was pertnear 20 yrs ago.

I have both, just for info. some AAA's in other states do not cover RV's. When that happens you write the check first, then fill out a form to get reimbursed, but if you read AAA's documentation you will find out there are limits. AAA in a DP will not send out a spare if you get a flat, they will tow you to the nearest tire center, even if it is after hours or they are closed.

It is what it is--an insurance no one wants use. Life goes on vehicles break down, tires go flat. No entity is perfect, my brother has used GS three times over the years without major complaint.

I drove commercially for over twelve years and the average wait was normally four hours for a service truck to arrive on the scene.

Not a good way to begin or end a travel day, factor in a child or two and it can get nasty quickly.
  • What is so amazing is everyone wants ERS to do things they want done, never mind what the contract says they will do. Some on here should form their own ERS Service. They could hire competent workers to answer the phones, contract with competent tow services, and pay the tow services a fair rate. Premium may be so high, no one would purchase the service but they would have their own private ERS.
  • I suspect if AAA, CN or any other ERS had an open forum such as this Good Sam one there would be an abundance of dirty laundry hanging on their lines also.

Good Sam is on the cutting edge for Customer Service Complaints by providing this public forum.....the others would do well to follow their example. There are a lot of people holding job positions in America who do not have the American Spirit of seeking "The American Dream." They need to be let go and give the opportunity to those who are willing to do the hard work.

It is a known fact: it is not just a saying; "Good Help is hard to find." This forum provides a good opportunity to discover where the weak links are in the Good Sam Services and correct them. A company does not exist to just provide someone a paycheck.... If they will not work their jobs as instructed they should not eat at the expense of the consumers.
