I am debating whether to renew my Good Sam membership or not. After my recent experience with Roadside Assistance I think I will not. Last week I got a flat on my travel trailer. Luckily we were stopped at a service plaza just off the turnpike. We called Good Sam Roadside Assistance. We were on the phone for 45 minutes just trying to establish our location with the operator. We gave the plaza address, mile marker location, and Name of the plaza and turnpike. The operator insisted they could not locate us and needed more information to send assistance. While we were on hold, I saw a guy with a tow truck next to us repairing a tractor trailer. I asked him if he had a better address for the operator. He asked if we were waiting on Good Sam. When I told him yes he informed us we'd be waiting all day and most tow/ repair services avoid the call or take their time because Good Sam pays the least amount. He offered to put our spare on for $20 and we were on our way. Mean while Good Sam had hung up and told us they would call us back. About an hour later Good Sam called back and told us they were still working on "pin pointing our location". We informed them we had found our own service and were on our way. So what did I get from Good Sam on this trip? No Roadside Assistance, saved .78 cents in gas. and bad directions from their trip planner that put us on a road with a one lane bridge and a dead end. The only other benefit we have used is the discount at Camping World. Every time we price check we can find the product cheaper online usually on Amazon or Ebay. Can anyone tell me why I should keep Good Sam?

Good Sam is a club to me, all the products and services are meaningless.We are officers in a local chapter and we regularly attend state Samborees. In my opinion, what you get out of it is commensurate with what you put into it.

Any service that's worth having is going to, or should have by now, an app that sends its coordinates along with a text message to the call center. Having to do what the OP did on the phone is just old school.I guess you get what you pay for.

I have not found the club discounts to be worth the cost of the GS membership. I've bought probably one item in the last few years from CW.My roadside service failed in the need, but GS made it right after the fact (I do give them credit for that). This year, I decided to let both expire - I am trying CoachNet (and still have AAA). May be i'll be back to GSRA, may be I won't. Only time will tell.

If it doesn't work for YOU, cancel it. There's hundreds, probably thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands, who are satisfied customers. They're not going away anytime soon. I doubt your leaving will affect them much...not everything is "right" for everyone. They provide services, discounts, products, heck, they'll even mail you cards and letters for free...:W..if you find one or more of these things useful, keep your membership...if not, cancel it....Dennis

I use it for the convenience of the savings and items available at the store.
We usually stay in State /Federal parts and being members of the old farts club we usually get a decent discount anyway.

I will not waste my hard earned money with Good Sam Club. I have heard so many terrible things about the company. As for the savings at campgrounds,, I am a retired Navy Chief and I always get a discount on my rates...

I doubt I would hit the road as a full-timer without GSERS...or Coach-Net. As far as discounts at campgrounds, 10% doesn't impress me too much. We really don't get anything from being a club member but I think you have to be a member there in order to get the GSERS.

We bought GS Lifetime. But all we really get out of it is the Camping World discounts and CG discounts (well worth what you pay for the membership). We don't have GS road side or GS insurance don't feel that is worth adding.

from what I read he,s mad about the emg service, I,d be mad to if they could not find a address AND a mile marker, sounds like the person on the phone needs a different job. and it sounds all to familiar

A membership is around $25.00. That's $2.00 a month. I easily get $2.00 worth of entertainment from this forum alone. If two bucks a month bothers you, don't buy a membership. But for $2.00 you have to be realistic in what you are going to get. When they say something is tougher than a $2.00 steak, they are implying that $2.00 doesn't get you Filet Mignon.
