03 Fleetwood Revolution - Delamination

As stated, I have an 03 Fleetwood Revolution which has a "Delamination" problem.

Can this problem be repaired ?

What would repair process involve and possible costs ?

It has occurred on the passenger side of the RV only.
You can see the frame work somewhat protruding under the fiberglass.

I have had roof entirely resealed.

It does not appear to be getting worse
  • Professional repair is expensive due to the amount of labor time involved and it's not a project for you neighborhood RV service center. The skill set to do it right is a bit specialized to make the end result look showroom new if repairs are made from the outside in.

For a DYI owner I advocate approaching the repair from the inside out. You can hide the work and any new seams or cuts behind wallpaper, trim work and such. If you take careful notes and images as you remove layers and rebuild with new material in the reverse the job really isn't very difficult. One additional step I would add that the builders don't do is to paint or somehow seal and new wood.

Good luck and post progress if you take this on yourself.
  • Fleetwood / American Coach had delam problems into the mid 2000's. In the past, it was sometimes covered under warranty until the bankruptcy/reorganization took place. Sidewall delam problems are corrected by sidewall replacement costing $20-30K. Sorry about that...
  • If the frame is protruding under the fiberglass, I would be concerned that the frame has not corroded away. That sounds like you may have structural damage, which if it does, it really needs to be addressed.

This is kind of interesting. Fleetwood was very notorious for delamination back in the 80s and 90s. More recently, the stories seem to die down a bit. One can only hope this is not a new wave of failures.
