1975 Holiday Rambler

I recently purchased a 1975 Holiday Rambler mini motorhome for occasional trips to the lake on weekends and I am needing to do quite a bit of work on it before it is useable. First of all I am needing a fuel tank for it. I have called a couple of salvage yards with no luck. Any thoughts or ideas of where I can find something like that? Maybe I am not using the correct words on the search engines but just not finding anything. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!
  • Just wanted to update on our plastic fuel tank dilemma. We did some research and tried our hand at plastic welding. It isn't the prettiest job but at this point the tank is full of gas and not leaking. Now on to the next problem is that the fuel gauge is not working. Any ideas where a wiring schematic can be obtained?

I would start with Rockauto.com using the appropriate model and year of your chassis. If you buy a tank from a dealer you will pay through the nose.

    I will second both comments.
  • When there was a fear that I had a leak in our fuel tank (also a 1975 Dodge motorhome), my mechanic recommended that I have a new one fabricated. He knew someone who manufactured them to order and it was very affordable. Luckily, the tank was fine. You might check around with shops and ask if they know anyone who can make one.
  • Trouble is we are getting conflicting stories from places. Dodge people say that the motorhome company put the fuel tank on and then I am told that Dodge put the tank on with the chassis. Don't really know where to start looking or how to find out. I am very new at this.
  • Welcome, just wanted to say congrats on the RV. You may have better luck on aftermarket, no dealer mark up and most of them are as good if not better than OEM if you can even get them.
  • Welcome to the forum.

Don't hesitate to ask questions, there is a lot of information available from experienced RVers.

Have fun with your project and, please keep us updated.
It's nice to see older RV's maintained and restored. I think they have more class than the new units.
  • I would start with Rockauto.com using the appropriate model and year of your chassis. If you buy a tank from a dealer you will pay through the nose. Be careful, a 1975 M/H , might be on a 1974 chassis. Better to confirm via your VIN number on the actual year of your chassis. If you cannot find it online the dealer can probably clarify it for you.
  • It is on a Dodge Chassis. I will check with our local Dodge dealer. Thanks!
  • What chassis is the motorhome on? Dodge? Ford? Chevy? Remember, Holiday Rambler just built a motorhome on a truck chassis they bought from a dealer. That is where you should look for the gas tank. For instance "1975 Dodge gas tank", etc.
