1988 Fleetwood Tioga renovation costs

I'm looking to renovate a class C rv, and rather than buy a new one, I want to start with a fixer upper that I can make into my own. I really like the floor plan of the Fleetwood Tioga (especially around 1988, the 26S model)

I realize an RV of this vintage is about 30 years old, and would likely need some repairs (floor replacement, engine maintenance, etc.).

However, I'm trying to get a sense of what all would likely need to be done/checked, and rough estimate of how much it might cost?

Thanks
Jacob
  • Would it be possible to do any winter living full time in this vehicle? Or am I going to need something totally different?
  • It depends a lot on the condition of the RV. If it's been decently maintained, you could only need to continue maintenance and repair/replace whatever happens to break or wear out as time goes on. If, on the other hand, it's somewhat dilapidated, you could be looking at more or less reconstructing the framework and structure of the motorhome. There are, of course, many stops in between the extremes. Finding a pristine 30-year-old RV is not a simple task.

(I guess by "condition" I mean "freedom from leaks" more than most anything else. Naturally other aspects of the condition are also important, such as proper maintenance of the chassis and properly working appliances and such. Problems with one system or one appliance are generally a lot easier to get a handle on than realizing your entire ceiling structure is in various stages of rotting away.)
  • Thanks Tyler for the feedback. That's not as bad as I expected, thanks for the insight!
  • Tires, belts, hoses, brakes and brake lines, gas filter, plugs and wires, battery for the mechanicals.
Inside, fridge,a/c, gas and water lines, leaks and cosmetics.
8K to 10K total. From experience, I know, and I did a lot of the work myself.
